Go The Fuck To Sleep, By Adam Mansbach – A Children’s… Picture book?

Go The Fuck To Sleep By Adam Mansbach

When I was a child, my parents would read me books to help me fall asleep. I think that most of the time they would simply make the stories up to spare their tired eyes from having to read another page, but I think that most of the stories were at least *based* on the books they were holding at the time. Now, it’s been a long time since I’ve read a children’s book, or looked at a picture book of any kind, but I can say with absolute certainty that as a child, I never read a book like this.

Go The Fuck To Sleep, By Adam Mansbach, is a children’s picture book that went viral and climbed the charts of the Amazon best sellers list. This is remarkable for two reasons. The first is that the book isn’t even out yet, and the second is that this happened because of piracy. Yes, I’m sure you can appreciate the great irony of that last point. People sharing a book for free… resulted in… massive sales? Amazing.

Charlie Brooker Reads a Newspaper

Charlie Brooker’s 2011 Wipe – From Hacking Scandals to Reality Television

Charlie Brooker is one of my favorite journalists. I’m always thrilled when I have an opportunity to write about his often comical, and always truthful perspective on reality. Recently, Charlie did a sort of year in review for 2011, and in typical Charlie Brooker fashion, he makes an absolute mockery of the sad state of global affairs in 2011. Charlie talks about everything from reality television to the “capture and compromise to a permanent end” of Osama Bin Laden.

Yes, this video is just just shy of 1 hour, but I promise you that

No Pants Subway Ride – Improv Everywhere

Though this may just seem like your run of the mill, pantsless improv subway ride, to me… it’s something much, more more. You see, years ago I came up with what I like to call “Chad Rules“, the philosophy of taking one’s clothes off at parties and social gatherings in order to made said gatherings more awesome.

Though you may not have heard of the philosophy, it’s never too late to become one with the Chad Rules. Just remember that Chad Rules isn’t just

Movie Review: The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, based on the third-published book in C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles book series finds Lucy (Georgie Henley) and Edmund (Skandar Keynes) dreaming of returning to Narnia where they were a queen and king. In England, they are stuck living with their aunt and uncle during World War II. Instead of battling mythical creatures, they’re stuck fighting with their annoying cousin Eustace (Will Poulter). Then one day a painting in their room comes to life and transports them back to Narnia and onto the Dawn Treader, the sailing vessel of King Caspian (Ben Barnes). At first they are unsure why they have been called back, but soon learn of the evil of Dark Island, which has been trapping people in its seductive green mist and set out on a quest to find the Seven Lost Lords in order to stop the evil.

As I walked into the screening I can honestly say I was not anticipating much from the film because it’s predecessor; PRINCE CASPIAN was a major let down but I was pleasantly pleased. DAWN TREADER kept my attention all the way through and with its fun characters; actions sequences and shorter viewing time made it less of chore to sit through. The budget was cut back significantly for this film due to the underwhelming

The Ultimate Movie Montage – 739 Clips in 15 Minutes

739-Movie-Clips-In-15-Minutes

I was trolling around Youtube looking for music by The Glitch Mob (whom I love for their dirty, industrial chill sound) and stumbled across this phenomenal video by Khameleon808 – ‘The Apple Tree – Feat. The Glitch Mob‘ is a flawlessly executed montage of 739 distinct and separate movie clips, seamlessly set to an epic score of Glitch Mob remixes. It’s pretty amazing; the video clips often have absolutely nothing to do with one another and there’s no dialogue, yet somehow the piece is a cohesive whole you can’t turn away from. I can’t imagine the obscene amount of time it would have taken to stitch hundreds of clips together, match action to musical features and to add in the jumps and pops that are characteristic to The Glitch Mob’s sound. The top notch editing and wicked bassy tracks will keep you riveted, but the fact that it’s basically 15 minutes of boobs, explosions, and fighting definitely helps too.  Video after the jump.

All Bart Simpson Chalkboard Quotes

I’m a huge fan of The Simpsons, it’s the only show I watch on FOX, and I think I’ve probably seen every episode at least three times.  This Sunday FOX will air the show’s 500th episode and to celebrate this milestone cabletv.com compiled every Bart Simpson chalkboard quote on a nice long poster, below.

According to the poster, there are 288 quotes; I don’t know what happened to the other 211?  Doesn’t every show have a new quote?  I don’t usually catch Bart writing on the board because it flashes by too fast.  Anyways, below is the long poster with all of Bart Simpson’s chalkboard quotes from the past 20 years.

The Iceman – Richard Kuklinski Goes Hollywood

Years ago I saw a documentary on Richard Kuklinksi, better known as The Iceman. Between 1964-1986 he killed over 100 people as a contract killer.

The trailer you’re about to watch is for a movie based on his life, and I think director Ariel Vroman did a fantastic job picking the cast. Michael Shannon of Boardwalk Empire plays Richard, and the rest, well…
