Lamborghini Aventador – Automobile Magazine First Drive

Aventador5Internally code-named LB834 and dubbed the Aventador LP700-4, Lamborghini’s all new Murciélago successor has been causing a storm for dedicated auto enthusiasts and professional auto journalists alike. From spy shots to engine specs and a recently leaked ordering guide, the new supercar has already become the worst kept secret for 2011. In the latest news, Automobile Magazine sheds light on their clandestine night time test mule test drive, which reads like pornographic automotive literature.

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS – The Last Of The 997 Models?

Porsche-911-Carrera-4-GTS-Side-By-Side

One of my favorite newer Porsche models was the 997, this model went back to the classic round headlights and was a major leap forward over the 996, at least style-wise.  The 997’s production is coming to an end; it will be replaced with the 991 next year.  Porsche decided to milk this popular model one more time with the introduction of the 911 Carrera 4 GTS coupe and cabriolet.  I think this is the last time we’ll see the 997 model but you never know, Porsche can surprise us with yet another model, there still are 7 months remaining in 2011.

So what do you get with the Carrera 4 GTS?  Not too much, the Carrera 4 GTS is based on the 911 Carrera GTS, which is a rear-wheel-drive model and this new version gets the 4-wheel-dirve system, hence the “4” in the name.

Drop Top: Ferrari 458 Italia Spider

Ferrari-458-Italia-Spider-Convertible-Wallpaper

The Ferrari 458 Italia is the hottest car available in the marketplace today, in my not so humble opinion, and it just got a little hotter with the introduction of the all new Ferrari 458 Italia Spider.

What could be better than a sexy red Ferrari convertible?  How about a first ever hard-top mid-engine car; unlike its predecessors which used soft cloth tops, the 458 Italia Spider uses a very cool hard-top system.  Unlike most of the other hard-top convertible cars, the one on the 458 Italia Spider doesn’t fold, it simply flips backwards and rests on top of the trunk, under a very sexy looking cover.  Check out the video below from some coupe to convertible action.

Car Manufacturer Trolls A Troll – Honda eHarmony and Debbie

I guess by now most of you have heard about Debbie’s eHarmony video – an impassioned video bio in which lovely Debbie makes an attempt at introducing her real, inner self to the internet. While Debbie is obviously a troll, her video about loving cats is still beyond hilarious; she loves every type of cat, and it just makes her SO sad that she can’t hug them all and put them on rainbows and it’s a very emotional time for her.  While pretty funny, it’s not really post worthy, until now: super awesome manly man Patrick Warburton has made a Honda eHarmony video. He too feels emotional… about Hondas. He knows not all Hondas are being driven, and wants to hug every type of Honda, but he just can’t and it makes him so sad! Check Honda’s brilliant video bio response after the jump.

Mercedes-Benz Is Not Bringing Sexy Back – 2013 SL Roadster

Despite Mercedes’ efforts to keep the 2013 SL under wraps, photos have been leaked and are circulating around the web faster than a zombie apocalypse. The Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster was scheduled to make an appearance at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show in January but because of the leaked images, Mercedes released official photos of the car.

I have to admit, I’m not a fan of the exterior styling at all. The front fascia has definitely been influenced by the Mercedes SLS and that same influence is being spread to other vehicles Mercedes is offering. The Mercedes SL appears to be having an identity crisis. Although I’m sure the car performs very well in the wind tunnel testing, the car doesn’t seem to have a very nice overall flow when looking at it from various angles and it lacks the aggressive styling I was hoping for.

Diamond Don’s Fantasy Camaro Build – Ordering a 1969 Camaro SS, 43 Years Too Late

I’d be remiss to talk about sixties muscle cars without paying homage to one of the best of breed: the first generation 1967 to 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. But, it’s also extremely difficult to write about the Camaro, for two main reasons. Reason one: How do you come up with any original topic about a car that has already been written up about in so many ways and from so many angles? Reason two: There are a lot (and I mean a lot) of Camaro guys that know every possible factoid about the first gen. If you want to write about the revered Camaro, then you had better be prepared to be repeatedly corrected by a Camaro enthusiast who intimately knows every nut, bolt, number, and high speed chrome muffler bearing on one. So today, the plan is to ‘build’ my own 1969 Fantasy Camaro: an original in the sense that all choices from the factory order sheet have been selected by me. Most of my Camaro option reference information is taken from internet sites, meaning there may be some cases where erroneous information slips in – I’m not claiming to be a Camaro expert, just a Camaro lover. Everybody, into the WABAC machine!
