Dutch Vitters Shipyard has revealed their latest creation, the Sarissa, a 42.6 meter (140 ft) sailing super-yacht. The luxurious Sarissa was designed by the highly praised naval architect Bill Tripp and Rhoades Young Design Ltd. The Sarissa also happens to be the largest Dutch-built carbon fiber sloop to date. I’m usually not a big fan of sail boats but this particular yacht features so much luxury that you have no choice but to like it.

In terms of the exterior, the only thing that is impressive is the size of the sailing yacht. At 42.6 meters, it’s a pretty long boat. Most of the magic on the Sarissa is in its high-quality finishing touches, luxurious interior, and technology. The Sarissa truly is a home away from home.

Waterfront property can be extremely expensive in large cities so some people decide to live on boats to be close to the water. Depending on the size, a boat can be an affordable solution or it can run into the millions of dollars. But for those who can’t decide between a house and a boat, they might want to consider a boathouse. Designers of X-Architects have worked closely with Leen Vandaele, interior design architect and design consultant from Squisito, to develop a houseboat that creatively combines the nautical lifestyle with modern engineering. The primary structure of the floating boathouse is made from two catamaran beams which provide stability. Stainless steel and glass is also used extensively to provide a modern and elegant look.

The houseboat is a 60.6-ft by 22-ft structure which includes an upper deck with a concealed kitchen, a dining area, and a living room. The lower deck is where you will find the bedrooms, a bathroom, and the Captain’s cabin or steering cabin. The houseboat also features a terrace with a spiral staircase which can be used as a sun deck.

Jesse, from Free Willy, wishes he had access to this back in 1993 when he saved his beloved orca killer whale.  The Killer Whale “Submarine” is a two-person watercraft designed after the Orcinus Orca and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 50mph over the water’s surface and can reach speeds of 25mph while submerged.

The watercraft is capable of submerging underwater about five feet deep as the integrated snorkel in the dorsal fins needs access to air. The watercraft features watertight half-inch thick acrylic canopy which has push and pull twin control levers which articulate the whale’s pectoral fins to execute rolls and stealthy dives just like the real whale.

First there was cruising above the surface of the water with the Jetlev R200, and then came the not so cool Aquaskipper, where you use human power to propel yourself across the surface of the water in a very lame looking contraption.

And now we have the Subwing, where you get to glide under water as a dolphin would. It’s basically a small wing you hold on to while being pulled along by a boat. The Subwing allows you to move sideways, twist, and even dive. Based on what I saw in the video below, one could hurt themselves if not careful. But then again, that can apply to anything.

Over 5 years in the making, the Adastra yacht finally made its maiden voyage in the Pearl River in China. Designed by John Shuttleworth Yacht Designs and built by McConaghy Boats in Zhuhai, China – the yacht is built for a Hong Kong businessman for leisure trips to his private Indonesian islands.

The Adastra Yacht has a price tag of $15 million and is considered to be one of the most fuel efficient yachts around with a top speed of 22.5 knots and a range of 4,000 miles (at 17 knots). The structure of the boat is crafted from carbon fiber with a Nomex honeycomb core and the hull is glass/Kevlar foam sandwich. To reduce weight, the interior of the yacht features light weight oak cabinets and carbon fiber hatches, ladders, portlights, and hinges.
