Dreams of a Desert Oasis

In dreams, I trudged through tornadoes of dry sand, my beard, sweating. I imagined slipping on sand coated concrete. The entire time I felt compelled to push forward despite the challenging environment. Suddenly, I felt my surroundings shift. My vision wobbled and the bursts of dry sand whirled past. In the distance, the cool waters of the perfect desert oasis shined brightly. Gorgeous women draped themselves across wet stones. I immediately felt a strange urge to tell the world about my discovery of this desert paradise. It was then, I remembered my job. I’m a blogger, I could write about this place. As soon as this memory from real life hit me, the dreamland began to dissolve. I exited the fantasy as I entered the stunning oasis, where every glint of the cool waters brought me to tears.

I awoke to the sound of my cell phone alarm. I knocked over several of my favorite, collectible action figures off my dresser while reaching to silence my vibrating cellular. Sitting up in bed, I experienced unmistakable chills. I rolled out of bed, my eyes still sealed shut by sleep. I rocked back and forth, and for a moment, I could feel myself standing before an ancient man, smiling.

My alarm rang! I realized I had nodded off, and briefly returned to my dreams. I shook my head, and scratched my beard, pensively. I tried to recall what I had done the previous night, and pondered the nature of such, overwhelming, and convincingly vivid dreams. This was strange, since I never was one to have particularly memorable dreams, bad or good. For a moment, I wished I was still there, held gently by my imagination. I forgot my visions of struggle and put all my entire mental energy into psychically clinging to such a powerful vision of such an incredible oasis. I took a deep breath, and felt lost in what was the greatest dream I had ever had.

I dressed with purpose, and picked up the action figures littered across my carpet. I didn’t know if I was going anywhere, but something about the day, demanded it. I moved with a newfound sense of gratitude, as if the dream I had was a experience that demanded tribute. I proceeded to make breakfast quickly, and take a seat at my kitchen table.

As I munched on my cereal, I parted the window drapes. Outside my apartment, I was shocked to see gentle clouds drifting across a blue sky. My heart dropped, they were the same clouds from my dreams, it couldn’t be anything else. Stunned, I looked away, and down at my food. I kept thinking that there was something else I should be doing…

My job! I hurried from my table to my desk and opened computer. On the screen, an accommodations booking website, AccommoDirect.com, glowed on my screen. It was time to start planning my sandy escape.
