Azimuth SP-1 Landship Battle Tank Watch Collection

We’ve written articles about some pretty funky watches over the years, but the Azimuth SP-1 Landship Battle Tank collection is beyond funky.  I usually like weird and “different” watches but I’m not sure what to think of these tank watches.  In a way they’re cool but when I look at their prices, I don’t think you’re getting much for the price.

These watches are part of a limited edition set, six different watches with full blown war paint on the “tanks”.  Each watch is priced at 9,800 Singapore dollars, or about $7,800 US at today’s exchange rate.

The watches do look somewhat like World War II tanks, with curved cases and tank track-like straps.  At the front of the watch is a large window that displays the minutes and at the top there’s another raised area with a window, showing the hour.  This second window would be the area where the driver would look through or the turret.  The watches are powered by modified ETA automatic movements.

SP-1 Landship Battle Tank Paint Schemes

Out of the six watches, four are using paint schemes from German World War II tanks (Tank “000”, “110”, “112”, and “116).  Tank 139 is painted based on the design of a US WWII tank with olive drab camouflage and Tank 062 gets a paint scheme inspired by tanks of today with pixilated camouflage.  Via: Azimuth

  1. Absolutely ghastly watches. Why on earth would any sane person wear a watch inspired by a NAZI tank?!? I can only think that the target market for these monstrosities are the ARYAN youth!
