As a huge fan of the infamous “car show” Top Gear, I was relieved to find out that Adam Carolla didn’t make it as a host on the show, the guy’s not funny at all and probably knows nothing about cars.
The new American Top Gear features Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara and some other dude. I have been looking forward to the American version of Top Gear and watching the trailer, I’m a little disappointed. It looks like Foust and the gang are trying a bit too hard to be like their British counterparts, it will be extremely hard to duplicate what Clarkson, the hamster, and captain slow have achieved. I hope I’m wrong but only time will tell.
What are your thoughts on Top Gear USA’s first trailer?

I watched the trailer on Saturday and my feeling was much like you described. It felt much more amateurish against the original. Like you said, kinda forced. The chemistry in the three hosts have a chance to save this, but based on the trailer I’m not so confident.
Exactly, especially with Tanner. I like him as a person but his “hosting” skills aren’t the greatest in his other show Super Cars Exposed and in that show he doesn’t even have to be funny. So we’ll see how he handles being a host of a show and then be funny as well.

The first season was good, it could improve, but it was the first season, and don’t even think that I am going to bring up the comparison, because there isn’t, the shows are the same, but the shows are different and I will leave it at that. I think the second season will be better, perhaps the hosts will have better rapport on the second year, but I would think that if they can’t it won’t be around for a third season. I am a loyal TG viewer, I make sure I catch all the episode form both shows, and working and subscribing to DISH network, I get both shows in crystal clear HD, which makes teh cars look that much better, in the end it is about the cars. Now only if the cars were free like my hd package on any top package, that would be nice… but somehow I doubt they would give them away.

I watched the first 5 episodes of the show but then stopped. As a car show, top gear USA was good, but as top gear… well, it is almost impossible to make it as good as the British version.
