Rick Mercer – The Story Of Our Gouge Based Canadian Heritage

YouTube player

To our Canadian readers – do you guys remember watching the government-funded “A Part Of Our Heritage” videos that were so popular in the 80s and 90s? They were full of pioneers making important discoveries, such as how to milk a cow, and how to synthesize penicillin – that sort of thing. Anyway, Rick Mercer created his own version of the Canadian history infomercials, but with a twist.

If you’re a Canadian who dislikes Bell, Rogers, the CRTC, and their plans to start usage based internet billing (UBB) in Canada, this video is for you. Rick has done an excellent job at showcasing how absolutely absurd the concept of usage based billing is when applied to the internet, a service which has become integral to every aspect of Canadian society, and which most (if not all) people rely on for work, education, and yes, even entertainment.
