With Alpine’s New Car, Can They Be F1 Title Contenders?

Alpine could well be a future contender for the number one Formula Title. This is of course, according to the Chief Executive Laurent Rossi. The French manufacturer managed to become the ninth team to be able to launch their car in the next season which is coming up soon. Rossi have said that they are now moving in the right direction and that they intend on carrying on their claim to the summit. Alpine have managed to finish well, and they have made it into the higher standings for the last three years in a row.

According to Casumo’s sports betting odds, Alpine are fifth favorites for the Constructors Championship too, outside the usual leaders Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and McLaren. The team are going into next year with a driver line-up that hasn’t changed from last season: Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon. Both drivers, looking again at the odds, are 9th and 10th favorites. The usual suspects are ahead of them. It would take a minor miracle for one of Hamilton or Verstappen to not clinch another title. However, every team is building towards and hoping for their own victory. Alpine, though, don’t have their sights set on this season.

Last week they even announced that they have been able to sign the former boss for Aston Martin. Otmar Szafnauer is now the principal for the team and this is very interesting to say the least. Rossie has added to the statement since, saying that this year, they do want to show that they have made constant progress and that they have made a lot of developments all across the site. They want to ensure that they are contenders for the title in the near future.

Can Ocon Go the Distance?

They seem to be at the top of the podium when you look at the previous season as well. this is when Ocon managed to come out with a win in Hungary, giving the team the first victory as Alpine contenders. This really does go to show how far they have come since they started to develop the team, and many are using this time as an opportunity to reflect as well. At one point they were known as team Lotus. The boss has come out to say that the responsibility he has and the feeling that he is experiencing right now is special, and that he does want to see what he has in his hands later on in the year. In the world of F1, anything can happen and the fast-approaching season is putting pressure on every team. The new season is going to start out with the Bahrain Grand Prix, which takes place on the 20th of March.

So with Alpine’s new car, it would seem that they are going to be able to go the distance and it is very interesting to see how far they have come in terms of their general development as well. Who knows what the future holds for them, but it would seem that they are taking steps to try and ensure that their victory is secured.
