We recently did a hands-on review of the Original Grain Barrel watch, which is offered with the DUO clasp. The DUO clasp attaches the Apple watch to the bracelet of the Barrel watch, and was said to be the first watch to offer that feature.
Now we have another watch with the same feature, albeit with a very high cost of entry. The Nico Gerard Skyview Pinnacle watch also features a clasp that inserts the Apple Watch into the metal bracelet, giving you access to all your modern technological needs while still retaining the look of the classic watch. The high price of entry is an astonishing $9,500 US!! However, you do get an Apple Watch by spending that kind of money, for free.
Don’t bash me for now knowing what the Nico Gerard brand stands for, I hadn’t even heard of them before today. So I don’t know if I can justify spending $10k on an unknown (to me at least) Swiss watch, and I’d also have to wait 8-10 months for delivery. Have they not even produced these watches yet and are they just gauging interest?
The watch itself is pretty simple looking, it comes with the standard three hands and a date window at three o’clock. The watch is made out of 316L stainless steel and measures 41 mm wide and 10.3 mm thick. It’s powered by a modified caliber NG2824A automatic movement with a 38 hour power reserve.
