The 2015 Subaru WRX S4 is another vehicle we won’t see in North America, but don’t worry, you can still get the regular WRX or the WRX STi. Don’t confuse the WRX S4 with the Audi S4, according to Subaru, the S4 the following four S’s: Sports performance, Safety performance, Sophisticated feel, and Smart driving.
The WRX offered in North America comes with a turbocharged 2.0 liter boxer 4-cylinder engine, delivering 268 ponies and 258 pound-feet of torque. The Japan-only WRX S4 bumps that output to 296 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, bringing it very close to the STi.
Power is sent to all four wheels via a CVT transmission, I know enthusiast are not going to be happy about it, but CVT transmissions are here to stay. Subaru did include 8 simulated shift points on the transmission, when in sport mode.
The steering has been upgraded for better feel and the body and chassis has been strengthened for a more sure footed feel. Visual upgrades include a mesh grill in the front air dams and the car is equipped with 18” wheels.
