There are countless reasons why someone might decide that working from home would be a better option for them, and perhaps their family too. Continue reading for some careers, which would be perfect for doing from home.
Childminding
If you enjoy working with children and have bundles of energy, patience and enthusiasm, childminding could be a great option for you. Many childminders choose to go into this profession after having children of their own. Although the amount you earn is not great, the benefits of being able to choose your own hours and fit the job around your family can certainly outweigh that. It will also be necessary to undertake several courses, such as safeguarding (child protection) and first aid. There are relatively few men within the childcare industry, so if you can see yourself doing this, you should certainly go for it.
Personal Training
If fitness is your thing, consider getting into personal training. If you have a large garage that you could convert into a gym with some rubber flooring rolls, some equipment and perhaps a lick of paint, this could be a great choice. You will be expected to complete a level of training to enable to you to be able to advise others on how best to work with their body. Many personal trainers also possess a qualification in nutrition to be able to offer meal plans and further information about the foods you are expected to eat.
Photography
This is another area where you can turn a hobby into a career. If you have a large reception room or an outbuilding that could be transformed into a studio, this could be a great option for you. Starting up can be tricky as you need to build a good reputation. Offering local families and friends some free photo shoots in exchange for being able to use their shots within your publicity is a good idea. Facebook competitions can also get you plenty of exposure for absolutely no cost except for the time you will give up to undertake the photoshoot. Again, this career could allow you to choose how frequently you work, although evenings and weekends are likely to be much busier that weekdays during typical working hours. Furthermore, if you have a large number of decent photos from days out, you may be able to sell them either as prints for people to display in their homes or as stock images online.
Tutoring
If you are fluent in another language, both oral and written, this could be a great option for you. Perhaps you are a great musician and can play several instruments to a high level. Tuition is a great way to make a living, although if you are focusing on school-aged children, your hours will be limited to evenings, weekends and holiday times. However, there are also many adults who want to learn a new skill, so you may be able to make it work for you. It will be necessary to get insurance to cover you and, as with childminding, you may also want to undertake some training courses. One such option is taking a TEFL course to get qualified to teach English as a foreign language.
