Hyundai is trying real hard to win over customers that buy luxury cars, they are already selling the Genesis and Equus sedans, which are pretty impressive cars in their own right. Today the Korean automaker showcased the Hyundai HCD-16 Vision G Coupe Concept to a select group of journalists in Los Angeles. The concept car will be officially unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next week.
The Vision G Concept is a look into the future of Hyundai’s design language, specifically their Genesis line. The Vision G concept would make a proper Genesis coupe, the current production Genesis coupe is not really a luxury car and looks nothing like its bigger sibling.
The Hyundai Vision G Concept looks like a hodgepodge of design elements from a bunch of other cars. Some parts of the car remind me of one the Infiniti concept cars, Mercedes S Coupe, a bit of Cadillac, and even some design elements from Bentley Continental GT. But then again, nowadays everything seems to look like everything else. If this car makes it into production, it will obviously be toned down; in its concept form, it looks like it’s taking aim at the Mercedes-Benz S Coupe and the Bentley Continental GT.
There aren’t many pictures of the interior available, but what is available shows a very elegant and upscale interior, it looks like something that would feel right at home in a Mercedes-Benz flagship sedan or coupe. There are lots of surfaces covered in wood, soft looking leather, and brushed aluminum throughout the cabin.
Powering the Vision G Concept is the same engine found on the production Genesis and Equus sedans, which is a 5.0 liter V8 producing 420 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm.
It already has the Bentley-like logo on the back of the car
