Dopekicks – World’s First Waterproof Hemp Shoes

Dopekicks are the world’s first waterproof shoes made out of hemp.  They are not only 100% waterproof, but they are also vegan. The designers behind these shoes wanted to set out to create unique shoes that were not only environmentally friendly but also stylish and affordable. The company wanted to think outside the box and use hemp fibers to construct these shoes.

Hemp is an extremely strong material and Eco friendly. The hemp fabric they used is supposed to repel all water from getting into the shoe. They made sure to add two layers of special membrane so your feet will never get wet, even if you walk into a puddle. The hemp fabric is also stain and dust resistant so it’s very easy to clean.  Although hemp is strong, it doesn’t provide support a shoe should have, so the creators recycled rubber from their competitors old, unwanted shoes as the soles. By recycling rubber from old shoes, the designers were able to create custom shoes with a rugged sole for the outdoors. This also helped to create more durable and stronger soles with maximum grip level.

Dopekicks also use insoles made out of cork oak. Cork is a non-deforming material that always regains its shape after years of usage. It’s also temperature regulating, which means it will keep your feet cool in the summer and warm in the winter. In addition, the designers added an extra layer of insulation with foam, to ensure your feet will have comfort and support. Your feet will never be too hot or too cold with these insoles. And since cork is actually anti-microbial and anti-fungal, you won’t have to worry about bacteria or fungus building up in your shoes.

With less than a week left on Kickstarter, the team has already met their funding goal. They still have some discounts available if you want these stylish, durable and environmentally friendly kicks.
