Classic Cars Vs Modern Day Sports Cars

Modern cars seem to have quite the advantage over their older counterparts because of speed, safety features, economic efficiency, and reliability. Even with those qualities, classic cars still rank high among car owners.

Classic Vs Modern Body

Have you ever relished the detail of a classic vehicle? For example, the 1960s Jaguar E-Type and DeTomaso Pantera. These car exteriors were carefully designed by way of hand-sketch and would be difficult for any new era designer to replicate. Modern car designers have respectfully shifted the culture, but have almost entirely recreated the character of the classics.

Unless you’re a fan of car parts that aren’t easily obtainable to you as a driver, classic cars have this one in the bag. Newer parts are considered secured units. On the other hand, classic parts were made to be easily accessible by drivers, and its due to the way they were handcrafted. Its safe to say they were manually produced and this is what gives them their unique character. Its as if classic parts are separated into hundreds of pieces, requiring a bit more direction from the driver which is also a big contribution to the way older cars age.

Modern cars, in contrast, are designed with new technology and are being mass produced through a system which doesn’t allow them to retain these unique characteristics. The unfortunate part about this is, mass production means hundreds of thousands of car parts being produced in a matter of hours only to appeal to manufacturers.

Story and style

Many people enjoy old muscle because of the stories they tell, from racing with stick shifts to the overall authenticity of the drivers experience behind the wheel. Some people love the fact that old cars guzzle gas and make loud noises no matter the model. It is said that newer cars don’t offer the same, machine-ready experience. Not only are they authentic in build, but they’re stylish (this is partially what we meant by character). By stylish we don’t mean only the look, we mean that its vintage, and when something is vintage, it means everything put into it was done with care.

Maintenance

Older things requiring high maintenance isn’t always true. The truth is, when it comes to modern cars, there is always more maintenance required because of new features and technology. New technology makes it difficult for drivers to even try to fully comprehend what’s going on with their vehicles. When something goes wrong, there is typically a diagnostics test required, whereas with a classic car, it’s easy to stand in your driveway and figure it out.

Appreciation and Depreciation When you drive a modern car off the lot, you feel as if you’ve just made a very sound choice in an investment, but newer cars depreciate as soon as they’re driven off the lot. After a couple of years, it’s normally only worth half its value, if that. Classic cars on the other hand, if they’re taken care of through the years, only continue to rise in value.
