There’s something about a wrist watch that has the ability to accentuate a guy’s look and feel. Like a fine point of tailoring that expresses the man’s individuality and taste, the watch is that ‘cherry on top’ detailing that can complete an outfit. Blah, blah, blah… here’s an epic list of watches to blow your mind..
Watches
Watches covers men’s watches, watch reviews, automatic watches, dive watches, field watches, dress watches, luxury watches, affordable watches, microbrands, straps, movements, and the culture of horology. Whether you are buying your first serious watch or arguing about movement finishing, this section keeps time with style.
Cool And Unusual Watches – Urwerk UR-110 Torpedo Watch
The saying “less is more” was thrown right out the window when the designers at Urwerk decided to design the UR-110 Torpedo watch. The watch is one of the more complicated timepieces I’ve encountered in a while and is a stunning work of art.
The UR-110 features three hands, all three hands serve as the hour markers, rotating on their own axis (with hour numbers) as the hours turn. The three hands are shaped like torpedoes, constantly rotate in a circular motion aiming at a metered scale with minutes marked on it from 0 to 60, in 5 minute increments. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, watch the video below. It is a very artistic video with music/actions that remind me of the movie “Inception”, very cool indeed.
Only Watch 2011: Zenith Left-Handed Watches
Zenith is one of my favorite luxury watch manufacturers and I’m glad to see them attending the 2011 Only Watch charity event in Monaco in September. However, unlike most of the other manufacturers at the event, Zenith will be bringing twice as many watches.
Zenith will be bringing two watches and both of the watches are left-handed (or “lefties”), designed for those one in ten left handed people in the world. The two timepieces are from the Pilot Chronograph and Captain Chronograph lines. The Captain Chronograph watch comes with a gold case and is intended to be worn during the week as you meet with high-class clients and close on million dollar deals. The Pilot Chronograph watch comes in a steel case and has a sporty look to it, ideal for the weekend as you leave your busy city life and enjoy some time on your yacht or at the cottage.
Casio G-Shock GB-6900 Bluetooth LE Watches
Casio’s latest G-Shock GB-6900 watches aren’t the first watches to use Bluetooth technology to connect to smart phones but they are the first to use Bluetooth LE, which is a Low-Energy Bluetooth 4.0 system. The watches will be compatible with NEC Android powered phones.
Some of the features of the Bluetooth G-Shock GB-6900 watches will include time synchronization with the phone, text message display on the watch screen, incoming call display, and email display. Users can be alerted to incoming calls via either a ringtone or a vibration which can be stopped with a tap on the watch.
Casio G-Shock GD-100WW White
Casio’s G-Shock watches come in hundreds (if not thousands) of different models and colors, from bright pink to in-your-face yellow. Now you can add this bleached white G-Shock GD-100WW-7 model to the ever expanding lineup and your G-Shock wish list.
Like all other G-Shock watches, the GD-100 white comes with the same shock-resistant shell and various functions such as stop-watch, world timer, LED backlight, and mud and water resistance.
Gucci G-Timeless Sport Watches
You’ve probably noticed most of the watches featured in our “watch” section are high-end, super-expensive timepieces that most of us would never see, let alone own. So I thought I’d write about a somewhat affordable watch by Gucci, I usually don’t like “fashion watches” but the Gucci G-Timeless Sport watch collection caught my eye.
I’m sure most of the hard-core watch enthusiasts that visit our site are probably going to skip this post because, well, Gucci is known for their purses and other fashion things for women, not watches. As much of a watch snob I think I am, for some reason, I’m really drawn to these watches. Maybe it’s the bright colors and the playful look of the watches?
BALL for BMW Watches
I’ve never looked into BALL watches; the only things I know about them is, they’re an American company and their watches have the brightest lume in the watch industry. BALL has teamed up with BMW to create the “BALL for BMW” watch.
The watch is said to be designed after gauges from a car with multi-layers, giving it a bit of a 3D look. The dial does look like an automotive gauge but then again most watch dials look like gauges… well, because they’re round and have numbers on them. I do, however, like the look of the BALL for BMW watch, if the price is right.
