To celebrate the 125^th anniversary of the Geneva Seal, Roger Dubuis has produced a limited edition watch called the Excalibur Flying Tourbillon Chronograph single-pusher.  The watch marks a new era in the way the Geneva Seal is applied to watches (explained below) and is the first Roger Dubuis watch to comply with the new rules.

The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Flying Tourbillon Chronograph watch is produced in a very limited run of 8 pieces only.  The watch comes in a 45mm pink-gold case with brown leather strap and is powered by the new RD580 calibre movement.  The watch face features the power reserve indicator at the 12 o’clock position, a 45 minute chronograph counter at the three o’clock position, a window showing the platinum micro-rotor with the words “125 ANS” at the 6 o’clock position, and the flying tourbillon at the 9 o’clock position.

The QLOCKTWO W is quite an unusual watch, instead of using hour and minute hands; it uses letters to tell time and forces you to read.  The watch face is covered with 110 letters, which look like one of those word search games, that spell out the time when a button is pushed on the side of the watch.

The QLOCKTWO watch is manufactured by Biegert & Funk and is available with English and German words.  This funky watch comes in a black or brushed steel case and comes with a hefty price tag of €550 or about $720 and will be available in the fall of 2012.

Hamilton has introduced the all-new Khaki X-Patrol watch for the man that travels the world.  The Hamilton Khaki X-Patrol comes with a feature that I’ve never seen on a watch before (I’m sure there are watches out there with this function), the watch comes with a mechanical scale between metric and imperial units.

The Hamilton Khaki X-Patrol watch can convert distance from miles to kilometers, feet to meters, gallons to liters, and pounds to kilograms.  This is quite a useful feature for those that travel between the USA and Canada and other countries that use the metric scale.  I don’t travel often but I occasionally have to convert metric to imperial scale when I’m writing posts for Unfinished Man.

Speake-Marin is one of the newest entrants into the luxury watch market; the company was founded in the year 2000 by Englishman Peter Speake-Marin.  Peter studied at the prestigious Swiss watchmaking school, WOSTEP, and after returning to England, he worked as the head of antique watch restoration department at Somio Antiques in Piccadily Arcade and that’s where the inspiration for his latest watch comes from.
