Elysium Trailer – It’s Better Up There

You know, I was just telling my girlfriend that I can’t think of even a single movie that I’m looking forward to seeing. The next Bond film is ages away… who knows when the new Robocop is coming out, and Iron Man 3? Meh. But then… I saw this, like a cool glass of water in the desert.

After many long years (and yes, it really has been years since we first heard about Elysium), we finally have a leaked, awesome, bad-ass trailer for Elysium. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so click that little play but below and

Modern Jazz Saxophonist Jafar Idris modeling

Interview: Contemporary Saxophonist Jafar Idris

I enjoy almost all genres of music and I consider myself to be pretty open-minded when it comes to music. I grew up on Rap, Hip Hop, and R&B from the 90’s and 2000’s. Jazz music has never been really my cup of tea but I certainly appreciate it. I’ll listen to it but won’t go out of my way to seek it.

A few months back, I was looking up some throw back songs from Usher on YouTube when I accidentally came across a few versions of Usher’s song ‘Nice and Slow’ done in a “saxophone version”. It kind of caught me off guard to see that and I decided to check the songs out because I always wanted to learn to play the Saxophone.  In my mind, the Saxophone seems like the perfect instrument to sweep a girl off their feet. A few of the versions of that song were pretty bloody good and two artists really stood out. One of those artists is saxophonist, Jafar Idris. After checking out his songs and enjoying much of his work, I decided to contact him and throw some questions his way.

Jensen Kimmitt – Do Me Cause You’re The Yo-Yo Guy

When I was a child (and for many of my teenage years), I obsessed over the all powerful yo-yo. I would spend hour after hour practicing, and the result was that I was just slightly better than someone who hadn’t used a yo-yo before. Clearly, the world yo-yo championships were not in the cards for me.

Thankfully there are talented yo-yo masters, and this video of Canadian national Champion Jensen Kimmitt winning the

Transit of Venus 2012 1

HD Video of Transit of Venus 2012

The transit of Venus occurred on June 5, 2012; if you’re reading this today, let me assure you, you won’t be alive to see it live again because the next time it happens it will be the year 2117 and 2125.  The “Transit of Venus” occurs when the planet Venus travels directly between the sun and earth, leaving a shadow as it moves across space.  This Venus transit lasted for 6 hours and 40 minutes and unfortunately I wasn’t able to see it live because it’s always cloudy and raining here and I also forgot all about the event.

For those of you that missed seeing this spectacular event, we have this very cool high definition video from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) showing a shadow of the planet Venus travel across the surface of the sun.  The video shows different shades of the sun, I’m assuming using different filters.  Hit the jump to see the video.

The Evolution of Comic Books – The Modern Fairy Tale?

Good day and salutations gentlemen! Today we shall be discussing an art form that has received new appreciation in recent years. An art form, that is a great fusion of story telling and design. An art form, once thought to be reserved for children. Ranging from the professionally produced graphic novels, to the free comic book at your local shop, today we recognize the modern fable. Please, bear with me as I attempt to wax philosophical.

As mentioned above, Comics have and still suffer from a stigma. One that relegates them to the realm of children, or individuals lacking in a certain level of maturity of personality and thought. It’s an easy assumption to make after all. Animation is generally reserved for
