cat singing game of thrones

A Meow of Thrones – Are you Actually Surprised?

When I was first shown this “song” about 20 minutes ago, two things came to mind. First I was going to say “as much as I rail against everyone posting cat stuff…” and also “does this really surprise you?“. Instead of choosing just one, I’ll use both. I hope you understand.

So yes, this really is a cat meowing the theme for Game of Thrones, and yes, here I am posting it. Just in case you’re wondering, the cat’s name is

Pop Culture by Madeon on Novation Launchpad with man dancing

Pop Culture by Madeon: Killer Live 39 Track Mashup

I heard Pop Culture by Madeon a few months ago and it immediately got in my head with its crunchy synth and infectious dance styling, so when it came up in my playlist today, I decided to check for a video. When I found the official release on YouTube, I was blown away by what I was seeing. I knew it was obviously a mashup, and could pick out bits and pieces of songs I like, but I didn’t realize just how deep this rabbit hole went. The seamless editing blends 39 separate tracks from artists ranging widely from ELO and The Who to Chromeo and Nero.  Watching Madeon’s fingers dancing across his Launchpad and trying to figure out how he’s keeping track of the samples and levels while playing a freestyle organ solo is nothing short of amazing. His mastery of digital dj equipment seemingly knows no bounds. And then, I found out he’s only 17 years old – queue puff of smoke leaking out my ears. Hit the jump and turn it up for a great party track, an unbelievable visual use of musical technology… and bonus utterly ridiculous dance video .

Frozen-Bubble

Below is a pretty trippy video of bubbles freezing mid-air, you know the bubbles that we used to blow and try to pop when we were kids, some of us still do it as grown-ups.  You can actually see the ice forming as they slowly freeze; it looks like a scene from X-Men, looks pretty cool, literally.

The experiment took place in Mount Washington, NH where temperatures were – 33 F.

Singapore National Night – Mentos Says Have Babies!

Here’s an interesting one… a government sponsored Mentos commercial encouraging the people of Singapore to have sex. Yes, their birth rate is so staggeringly low that the government actually created a national holiday upon which men and women are supposed to copulate.

The video itself is really quite terrible, but the tune is kind of catchy. Whoever they hired to do the singing is actually
