Inverted Car From Poland

There is more to Poland than just potatoes. For example, they have inverted cars. Why drive forward when it can be done in reverse? I don’t …

Why Station Wagons Are Cooler Than You Think

Long before minivans crowded the streets, and SUV’s littered the highway like some sort of massive parking lot, the original utility vehicle reined supreme: the station wagon. These were your forefathers’ noble steeds, with names like the Safari, County Squire and Colony Park. Manly, massive land yachts that gobbled up miles with gear and trailer in tow. You and your buddies would never be caught in something called “Caravan” or “Windstar”; imagine you’ve got yourself a 20 foot long wagon with a 7 liter V8, room for 7 of your friends and all their beer- a little less embarrassing, huh? If you still want an SUV or some over-compensating lifted truck: is it going to fit in your garage? Un-bloody-likely. The practicality of the station wagon is only a small part of its appeal, however. Take a look at some of the meanest, hottest, fastest classic and modern wagons that put today’s SUV and crossover utility vehicles to shame.

Amari Design Lamborghini Gallardo Invidia Edition

It’s no secret that when it comes to supercars, I love pretty much all of them.  One of the exceptions to that rule is the Lamborghini Gallardo; I’m not a fan of it.  There is something about the car, it just looks very plain.  I am however, a fan of the soon to be released Gallardo by Amari Supercars, a UK based used supercar dealer.  Amari has started their own supercar tuning division called Amari Design and the car is called Lamborghini Gallardo Invidia Edition.

Sexy New Scion FR-S Concept Sports Car

Finally a Scion we can get excited about, the Scion FR-S Concept was unveiled at the 2011 New York Auto Show and is based on the Toyota FT-86 which was developed with Subaru.  All three manufacturers will be producing their own versions of the car, finally giving consumers choices in the affordable sports car category.

According to Scion the “FR-S” stands for “Front-engine, Rear-wheel-drive Sport”, while Jack Hollis, Scion’s VP describes it as “Friggin’ Really Sweet”.  I like that definition better but I like mine even more, “F*cking Really Sexy”; that’s right, I think a Scion is sexy, never thought this day would come.

Lumma Design Reveals BMW X6 Xdrive40d

Modified BMW X6 by Lumma Design

When the BMW X6 was first introduced to the masses, I wasn’t really a big fan of the design although it slowly has started to grow on me. I mean, most reviews out there have pointed out the fact that it performs terribly as a car and even worse as a Sport Utility Vehicle. Like some confused teenagers out there, this BMW too has identity issues and needs figure things out. While it does that, tuners such as Lumma Design are putting their own twist on the BMW X6.

Lumma Design has been known to modify the X6 but this time, they tune the xDriv40d engine which is equipped with a twin-turbo charged 3.0 liter straight six which produces a respectable 306 horsepower and a massive 443 lb-ft of max torque straight off the assembly line. Not too bad but there is always room for improvement. First thing Lumma takes care of is the ECU mapping on the X6. The ECU tune bumps up the power of the X6 to 340 horsepower and the torque is now a staggering 494 lb-ft.

Custom 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A – Performance Preferences, Now and Then

Most car guys know what a limited slip differential is. They probably also recognize Positrac – or Positraction – by other marketing names used by the Big Three manufacturers, such as Sure-grip, Traction Lock, Safe-T-Lok, and so on. Well, I’m a car guy from way back; I got my drivers license in 1972. (Please hold those age jokes.) As is typically the case with older more intelligent car guys, I have a special appreciation for domestic cars built in the 67, 68, 69 and 1970 model years: those built and roaming the streets while I was counting the days until I could get my own drivers permit.

So, what did I learn during those formative years, when I had more brain cells and my synapse connections were still being hardwired?
