BMW Z4 Coupe by Zagato

BMW has been producing the Z3 roadster (currently called Z4 roadster) since 1996 and each roadster model later had a hard-top coupe version.  The latest Z4 roadster, however, came with a hard-top convertible, leaving many wondering if there will be a Z4 coupe and whether there is a point to having a coupe.  The answer to the first question is yes (kind of).

BMW teamed up the famous Italian coachbuilder Zagato to create the BMW Zagato Coupe concept based on the Z4 roadster, the car will be unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este at Lake Como in Italy.

BMW Z4 Zagato Coupe Side View

I have been a fan of the BMW Z4 from day one and the Zagato Z4 Coupe concept doesn’t disappoint, it looks bad-ass!!  The concept looks like a Z4 on a strict steroid diet with a membership to a 24-hour gym.  The car looks mean with an aggressive front fascia and wide stand with bulging fenders.  The car has sleek lines, a double-bubble roof, and a classic Kamm tail.  The interior hasn’t been touched and looks like a stock Z4’s interior.

The BMW Zagato coupe is a one-off but it’s not just a show car, it has been thoroughly tested at BMW test facilities and the car is registered as a road-going model in Germany.  BMW didn’t provide any information on what’s powering the little beast and whether it will make it into production.
