Swiss timepiece manufacturers Parmigiani Haute Horlogerie Authentique have created a clock that features a calendar based on a Hegirian calendar (the Islamic lunar calendar). This is the world’s first mechanical clock with this feature; the calendar featured is a 30 year continuous lunar calendar. The lunar year is 10 days shorter than the calendar we’re used and has 354 or 355 days in a year.
Below is a pretty trippy video of bubbles freezing mid-air, you know the bubbles that we used to blow and try to pop when we were kids, some of us still do it as grown-ups. You can actually see the ice forming as they slowly freeze; it looks like a scene from X-Men, looks pretty cool, literally.
The experiment took place in Mount Washington, NH where temperatures were – 33 F.
This week Land Rover is debuting at Geneva Motor Show the most luxurious Range Rover ever. The new flagship vehicle is the very first vehicle to include super yacht inspired teak load-space floors, machined aluminum laptop table, drinks chiller, and two Apple iPads as standard equipment. Engine options include the LR-V8 5.0 Supercharged with a 0-60 in 5.9 seconds or if you’re feeling a bit green, there’s a new LR-TDV8 4.4L diesel engine making this the first Range Rover ever to do better than 30mpg. Only 500 units will be produced.
When the McLaren F1 first hit the roads it was immediatley praised as one of the most iconic road cars of all time. For almost two decades the million dollar 3-seater set the stage for comparing any newly produced exotic super car. With it’s gold foiled 550 hp engine, it still holds the top speed of 243 mph for a naturally aspirated car.
Now McLaren Automotive is back with McLaren MP4-12C. Boasting 592bhp, 443lb ft and 1434kg, the MP4-12C hints at zero surprises for who it has on it’s crosshairs; the 562bhp, 398lb ft, 1485kg Ferrari 458 Italia. Check out some great videos after the jump.
Celebrating the LFA’s hat-trick of class wins at Nürburgring 24 Hours race, Lexus is introducing a limited edition of the already highly exclusive LFA. The LFA Nürburgring Package is a $450,000 godzilla fighter with a 562 hp 4.8L V10 under the hood. It has a top speed of 202mph, a 0-60 in 3.7 seconds, and a production number limited to only 50. The Creditor Carbon Fiber Money Clip Knife by John Kubasek is exactly what it sounds like, and is as sharp as it looks. The level of ingenuity behind its size and disguise is matched only by its sex appeal, deriving from the use of carbon fiber.
The blade is a laminate of real carbon fiber and D2 tool steel, with a Rockwell harness of 59-60. The handle is made out of 6AL4V titanium with a small piece of carbon fiber in the corner, while the clip is black stainless steel. The use of carbon fiber and titanium make this weigh just 40 grams or less than 2 ounces.
We followed it through the development stage, and now we would like to introduce you to the finished Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. With a 700 hp V12 of 479 lb feet of torque and a 0-60 in under 3 seconds to top out at 217 mph, the $350,000 Murciélago successor is more than bullworthy.
