A Touch of Cloth – Chasing Crossbo

I know that I’m in the minority here, but I have to say… I dislike just about every piece of British comedy. There’s something about it that – for me – is not only not funny, but actually bad-mood inducing. There’s but one person who’s an exception to this rule, and his name is Charlie Brooker.

Charlie may be the sole “funny person” (and I mean that in more ways than one) in Britain, and he’s the fellow who created this hilarious clip you’re about to watch. When he’s not creating dark and depressing shows like Black Mirror, or writing snide articles for The Guardian, he’s creating fantastic stuff like this. If only every crime drama on TV played out like A Touch of Cloth.

The video starts off with a few police investigating a fellow named Crossbo, and quickly devolves into awesomeness. As you’re about to discover, Crossbo’s identity is anything but obvious.

What I so enjoyed about this video is that, at least during the beginning of the clip, it doesn’t seem like a parody. Everyone is so straight faced that they actually had me going, to a point I won’t mention for fear of complete and absolute embarrassment.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that A Touch of Cloth will probably never be a full, actual show – and that’s a shame – but if you’re interested in seeing more of Charlie’s work, I suggest taking a look at his Twitter feed and clicking on some of the articles and clips that he posts. I promise you; never will you see a man who can say such terrible (and true) things with such a straight face. It’s an absolute sight to behold.
