Why do your muscles hurt after a hard workout.

Muscle soreness is common after you’ve completed exercise through a day or two. Regardless of your fitness level, it’s likely that you are going to experience some type of soreness related to muscle tension. It important not to be put off by muscle tension, instead you can learn more about why your muscles are sore after exercise.

Doms
Delayed onset muscle soreness can often occur when you start a brand-new exercise program. Because muscles are required to work much harder than there used to it can often cause microscopic damage of the muscle fibers which feels like stiffness and soreness. This can commonly be confused to the lactic acid builds up when muscles are stiff.

Lactic acid
After your workout or when you wake up the next day, it’s quite possible that you might experience some lactic acid in your muscles. This is not quite as severe as the idea of Doms and it often comes when you have lightly pushed your muscles too far.

Doms can happen even to elite athletes and it’s important not to be discouraged by the feeling after an activity. Most any movement can cause Doms whether you are taking on a brand-new exercise are working out your muscles in a brand-new way. It can often be painful and really the only cure for Doms is to keep exercising the same area with rest and recovery.

Ice packs, painkillers, massage and more can also be beneficial at fighting the symptoms of DOMS. These types of approaches can often help you push your treatments further and exercise long after you have experienced DOMS for the first time.
