3rd Generation 2014 BMW X5

Gentlemen, here’s the all-new 2014 BMW X5 SUV (generation 3) and… it looks pretty much like the model it replaces.  The new X5 does look a little different but the design is more of an evolution of the 2nd generation, and it kind of reminds me of the X3.

I do like the front end of the 2014 X5, it has a bit of sporty flare to it; the side profile isn’t bad either.  It’s the rear end that lets the design down.  The interior is also new and more in line with new BMW cars, it’s not too bad, simple and non-cluttered.  I’ve never been a big fan of BMW interiors and this one is in line with my expectations or maybe a bit better than what I was expecting.

The 2014 BMW X5 (codenamed F15) will hit showrooms in the winter, in North America.  Engines offered will be an in-line 6 turbocharged unit with 300 horsepower and rear wheel drive (X5 sDrive35i) and all-wheel drive (X5 xDrive35i).  A V8 with 445 horsepower will be offered in the xDrive50i version, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds.

In Europe, the 2014 BMW X5 will be available in the fall with two diesel engines and one gasoline engine choices.  The xDrive30 will feature a 3.0 liter V6 diesel, producing 255 horsepower and an M50 d M Performance model with a tri-turbo 6-cylinder diesel engine producing 376 horsepower.  The gasoline engine is a 4.4 liter V8 producing 444 horsepower.

Again, no diesel offered in North America, for now at least.  Also, no word on pricing yet. BMW
