Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here? I’m guessing it is, because what man doesn’t enjoy the latest in film, music, and anything else that a person would consider interesting or funny. We write everything ranging from album reviews, to gaming previews, to critiques of the latest Uwe Boll film.

The Far Cry series has had an interesting journey over the years. The franchise started on an island inhabited by mercenaries and horrific aboninations, and then moved on to the African continent for some safari style shooting adventures. Now the series has taken another twist, and we once again find ourselves on an island in the middle of no-where, surrounded by crazy people. We’ve all seen the awesome teaser trailer, but today we finally have a proper Far Cry 3 gameplay trailer to make sense of it all.
The trailer starts with our mohawked friend Vaas – played by the incredible Michael Mando – giving the player a bit of a beat-down. After that, it’s nothing but incredible scene after scene with more action, beautifil locales, and continue reading →

After 17 months away, the smash hit Mad Men has finally come back for a fifth season, and most of us have been dying without our supplementary vicarious intake of sharp suits, work day drinking, and hapless floozies. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the life of Don Draper for a day? With this fantastic 8bit Mad Men YouTube game, you can make all the important decisions, like which secretary to despoil or where you’ll black out for the night. continue reading →

I’m always excited when I discover a new foreign film. Often times I find them overly artistic or completely unintelligible, but when they’re good, they’re good. Headhunters, by Swedish director Morten Tyldum, follows the life of an accomplished headhunter who risks everything to relieve (read: steal) a priceless painting from a former mercenary. Sounds like a pretty bad idea, right?
The trailer starts out with an albino-looking Christopher Walken doppelgänger in police custody as a massive truck slams into the vehicle he’s being held in. That’s interesting, but what’s even better is that the truck is driven by continue reading →

Soccer is one of those sports that somehow manages to simultaneously maintain both the most ravenous die-hard fans in the world, and the attitude that most footie players are giant wussbags. Largely, this comes down the the fact that tackling vs. foul tackling is hotly debated, and acting as though you may die right there on the pitch is pretty common (especially when someone kicks nowhere near you.) The best way to man soccer up a bit? Let everyone smash the shit out of each other all the time- but don’t worry for the pretty faces of your euro stars… Boblefotball is here, and it means bubble soccer; you’re going to want to see this video. continue reading →

A while back I posted a trailer for the upcoming Hong Kong action game, Sleeping Dogs. The entire video is live action, with many scenes filmed in my home city of Vancouver. At the time, I knew virtually nothing about the game, but the trailer impressed me so much that I decided to reach out to Goldtooth Creative, the studio that created it, and ask them a few questions.
Though the team was extremely busy with GDC 2012 in San Fransisco, Associate Creative Director Paul Furminger was kind enough to answer a few of my questions. It’s an extremely brief interview, but if you were interested in learning more about the production of the trailer, you’re in for a real treat. continue reading →

If you’ve ever had fantasies of piloting a megalithic laser shooting battle mech, then you’re in for a real treat this year. We have not one, but two mech inspired games coming out. We’ve talked about Hawken quite a bit, but what about the MechWarrior franchise? After all these years, a sequel is finally in development under the title MechWarrior Online.
This new MechWarrior Online footage was taken at GDC 2012 and features plenty of hot mech on mech action. We see tons of lasers, missiles, and mechanized shenanigans set to the excellent adrenaline pumping music we saw in the teaser a few weeks ago. All of the mechs are rendered using the latest continue reading →

It’s an interesting experience to see a game develop from conception to full fledged, playable title. Hawken started out as a simple, awkward child, and has – as of this teaser – really grown into an awesome, missile firing, mature, robotic adult. The leap forward in terms of gameplay, visuals, and presentation is absolutely staggering.
This is the first Hawken gameplay teaser that really feels like a finished game. As you’ll see in a moment, everything from the movement animations to the continue reading →

In a move that surprised absolutely no one, EA announced their upcoming revival of the much loved SimCity series. It’s been almost a decade since Maxis released the last SimCity, and it’s obvious that the new team is making an effort to make this the most beautiful looking SimCity game ever.
Now, unfortunately this isn’t actual gameplay footage, but my guess is that many of the assets seen in the trailer are indeed *from* the game. It’s obviously continue reading →

If you’ve had a chance to play the incredibly awesome Hitman: Blood Money, you probably have fond memories of the massive crowds that IO Interactive managed to create using their last generation Glacier engine. The crowds truly were a marvel at the time, and it seems that the team is stepping up their game once more for Hitman: Absolution. You want crowds? You’ll get crowds.
This technology presentation was taken just days ago at GDC2012, and shows us the new crowd system in action. IO Interactive has been banging continue reading →

I drink a lot (a lot), so it stands to reason that I spend a lot of time up late at night giggling at cockamamie inventions on infomercials; one in particular that seems like it would be hilarious (and more than likely, very dangerous) in my hands is the home vacuum sealing machine. Japanese Photographer Hal spent most of 2011 shooting a series called ‘Flesh Love’ straight out of my alcohol fueled nightmares by taking all manner of probably very nice couples, and turning them into creepy, awful vacuum sealed people. Honestly, these pictures are so bizarre that they swing right back around to becoming incredibly interesting. continue reading →
