Tron: Legacy Megamix by Daft Punk

Tron Legacy Daft Punk Poster
Like all things Tron, this poster glows in the dark.

As you can see in the poster above, tech-funk duo Daft Punk have harnessed the power of lens flares to bring you a kickass 20 minute megamix of the new tunes they crafted for Disney’s upcoming Tron: Legacy. Check it out!

Many tracks deviate from standard Daft Punk fare and the influence of legendary scoremaster Hans Zimmer is evident.  This is no coincidence; according to the album credits, the score was mixed at Zimmer’s own Remote Control Studios in Santa Monica. He also gets an personal shout out from Daft Punk in the credits.  Fortunately, Zimmer’s no slouch; he’s responsible for hundreds of award winning film scores for films like Crimson Tide, The Dark Knight, and Inception.

The track “Outlands“, for example, is almost entirely orchestral and smacks of Zimmer with its Inception-like strings.  “Rectifier” is like a slow riff on the first 10 seconds of the Star Wars Imperial March but lacks the super memorable overarching theme that made that track so badass.

But don’t worry, Daft Punk fans, there is plenty of their traditional sound to go around. Tracks like the “End Titles”:

and “De-Rezzed”:

will have you bobbing your LED-adorned helmets like the first time you heard Da Funk.
