When it comes to action cameras, GoPro has the market pretty much cornered. Their cameras might not be the best, but they are the most well known and the average consumer would probably buy GoPro cameras because of the company’s marketing efforts. TomTom, famous for their GPS devices, would like to take a bit of a bite out of GoPro’s lucrative pie with the introduction of the TomTom Bandit action camera.
The Bandit comes in a compact size that could easily fit in a jacket pocket. The camera does have interesting features like marking events (or highlighting) them with the touch of a button and later when you want to do a quick edit, just shake your phone (equipped with the Bandit App) and it will automatically pick up all the highlights from the footage for a quick highlight reel.
Video can also be easily edited using the “drag and drop” method, by picking different clips and dropping them in different sections of the video, using the app. The app also allows you to quickly post your video online onto different social media sites.
The TomTom Bandit action camera comes with a built-in 1900 mAh battery and a microSD car that can hold three hours of 1080p video shot at 30 fps. The Bandit action camera is water proof and comes with GPS, 16 MP CCD sensor, motion sensor, and USB 3.0. Priced at $399.
