The Most Entertaining Events to Attend

If you’re thinking about which big events to attend over the next year or so, here are some top ideas for you to consider.

Il Palio in Italy

Twice a year, there’s a horse race in Siena, Italy called Il Palio. It’s not a horse race like many others you’ll have seen before though. There are 17 horses in the race, each one representing each of wars in Siena.

They ride the horse bareback around a dirt track in the town. There’s also a big festival going on across the city as this happens, so there are plenty of other things you can do once the big race has been won. In fact, the festivities are worth the trip alone!

The World Cup

The Fifa World Cup kicks off every four years, and it’s a huge event every time. It’s one of the few events in the world that really is global. Every single nation on the planet, no matter how big or small, has the chance to reach the World Cup finals. And the event takes places all over the world.

In 2010, the first ever World Cup was hosted in Africa, and soon it will come to the Middle East and Russia. For a football fan, there’s no other sporting event like it in terms of size and scope.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is the world’s largest fair. It happens once a year in Germany, capturing the national spirit and allowing everyone to let go and have fun for a whole 16 days. It incorporates two main features: beer and a big fun fair.

And when you combine those things, it’s pretty much impossible not to have a good time. Millions of people head to Munich for the event from all over Europe and all over the world. Nowadays, it has a double significance as it also marks the reunification of Germany in 1990.

La Tomatina

If you enjoy a food fight, then you need to attend La Tomatina. This is literally one huge food fight. How huge? Well, about 30,000 people take part in the event every year. There’s only one food involved though (you might have guessed it based on the name); tomatoes. There’s no way to stay clean once you find yourself in the middle of it.

You have to just let yourself go and get covered in red tomato juice. It’s a lot of fun though, so you should really give it a try if you get the chance; it happens in Bunal, Spain each year.

The British Open

The British Open Championship is a golf event like no other. It’s certainly one of the highlights of the European sporting calendar, and it’s one you really need to attend. The next time it happens is in 2016 at Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire. It’s a beautiful golf club, perfect for watching a quiet and leisurely game of golf. But things can often get heated and competitive on the golf course too, this is something a lot of people don’t realise.

This can add a little spice and spark to the game and makes it more entertaining. You should visit www.LuxuryGolfHolidays.com/opengolf2016 to find out more about attending.

These events are all incredibly entertaining, so you should give at least one of them a try.
