Sparxgear Fire Piston – Start Fires The Easy Way

I’ve always been interested in spending time in the great outdoors and one of my favorite parts of the outdoors is making campfires.  Most of us that go camping usually bring matches to start a fire, but what if the matches get wet?  You could try striking rocks against each other or rub sticks to start a fire, but that’s not as easy as it seems; if you’ve watched episodes of “Survivor” you’d know some of those guys can’t even start a fire with a flint.  A better option is to take the Sparxgear Fire Piston with you. You can easily start a fire with it and it’s waterproof.

A fire piston is nothing new, but the Sparxgear fire piston comes in a compact and easy to carry package and it’s very durable.  It’s made out of aircraft grade aluminum, weighs only 2.25 ounces, and measure 5.6 inches in length; it’s small enough to throw into your backpack.  The Sparxgear fire piston comes with three grooves for a flint, steel, and magnesium strips, giving you even more ways to start a camp fire.

Watch the video below to see how it works.  The Sparxgear fire piston is currently in development and they’re taking pledges at kickstarter.com.  A $35 pledge gives you a chance to own one of these great little survival gadgets. I’m planning on getting for myself because I think it’s pretty cool and could really come in handy on a camping trip or during a zombie apocalypse.
