Samsung Smart Window – Minority Report, Here We Come!

It’s very rare that a gadget gets me all hot and bothered, but this upcoming “smart window” from Samsung has done just that. The Samsung Smart Window is a completely transparent window (as you would expect), but with a twist. It features a full digital interface on the inner facing side, meaning that it acts like a massive touch screen computer. Remember that scene in Minority Report where Tom Cruise is sliding and wooshing around objects on the screen? Yeah, it’s just like that.

The video opens with “Video Delegate” Ashley Esqueda of Mobile Nations going over all the features, and she seems just as excited as I am. Since you can’t see my face, just pretend that I’m this woman, excitedly sweeping my hand across the massive screen of awesomeness.

Samsung Smart Window in Action

The Smart Window does everything that you would expect, such as loading web pages, weather information, and to-do lists, but it also has something else that really blows my mind: a digital window blind! When you want privacy, you need only “pull” the blinds down to block outside onlookers from seeing into your home. And do you know what’s even better? People on the outside can’t see what items you have on the screen, as they’re only visible from the inside. While you’re sweeping your hand across your massive collection of adult images, people outside will be none the wiser. They’ll just think you’re insane, or trying to signal to them.

There’s currently no known release date for the Samsung Smart Window, but given how blown away people are by it, I have a feeling we’ll hear a whole lot more about it in the coming months. Keep an eye out on Unfinished Man for more details as they become available.
