If you’re a fan of beer and ice cream then I got some pretty good news for you. The popular ice cream company, Ben & Jerry’s, along with New Belgium Brewing are set to release a beer in the fall of 2015. The beer flavor has already been picked and will be called Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale which sounds pretty damn amazing.
Not only will it be delicious but the beer collaborate is going to be beneficial to an organization called Protect Our Winters which is raising awareness on climate change. At this time the details are preliminary but both of these companies have contributed to causes which bring awareness to minimizing carbon pollution as well as supporting sustainable agriculture.
Both the brewery company and the ice cream company are registered Beneficial or ‘B Corporations’. B Corporations means they are held to performance standards which are comprehensive and transparent, measuring things such as an organization’s impact on the environment, workers, suppliers, and communities. This partnership will be both delicious and meaningful.
There will be an announcement later in the year which will have more details on the focus of the campaign as well as specifics around this partnership. We do know that the beer will be available in 22oz bottles and the alcohol content will be 6.3 percent.
Sean Greenwood, communications director for Ben & Jerry’s , says the drink will not taste like a milkshake and that it’s very much a beer that is not overly sweet. The beer will also be a limited-batch release so it might be difficult to get your hands on. Ben & Jerry’s has made beer-inspired flavors in the past but this will be the company’s first endeavor into the world of beer.
