The 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider is one of my favorite games in the last few years. It’s gritty, tense, and most importantly, a ton of fun. It also features an interesting strong female protagonist, a video game character type sorely missing at the time.
But it’s been a few years, and not to sit around idle, the studio is once again bringing Lara back to televisions and monitors around the world. They’re cooking up a brand new adventure for Lara, and today we’re finally given a brief glimpse into the exciting new landscape we’ll explore in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
It’s true that the teaser doesn’t show much, but what we are shown in spades is atmosphere. Tomb Raider was a gritty and intense experience, and if this new teaser is any indication, the follow-up will be more of the same. Believe me, that’s not a complaint.
What I will complain about, though, is the lack of release date. Hopefully these guys remedy that at E3 2015 in the coming weeks.
