OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra “Captain’s Watch”

Like most of our readers, I don’t follow golf but do love watches.  In the golfing world there is a big event called the Ryder Cup that takes place every other year and pits the best golfers from the United States against Europe’s finest.  No prize money is awarded to the winning team but they do get bragging rights.  This year’s event, in September, will feature Omega as the official timekeeper and Omega has introduced a new watch for this event.

The watch is called the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra “Captain’s Watch” and will be worn by team USA’s captain Davis Love III.  I’m not sure whether this watch is a one-off or will it be offered to the general public.

The Captain’s Watch comes in a 41.5mm brushed and polished stainless steel case with a polished bezel and polished/brushed combination stainless steel bracelet.  The watch is powered by Omega’s caliber 8500 co-axial automatic movement which is visible through the sapphire crystal case-back.  The dial is also covered with sapphire crystal and features the vertical “teak-pattern” lines found on the Aqua Terra line of watches.

The watch face is pretty simple with 11 hour-indices that are made out of 18k white gold; the missing index features a date window at the 3 o’clock position.  The watch has the standard three hands finished in blue with Super-LumiNova coating.  The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Captain’s Watch is water resistant to 150 meters/500 feet.
