Review: Logitech Harmony 650 Universal Remote

If you have a TV, you probably have a mass of remotes on your coffee table from TV remote to sound remote to DVD remote and more. These remotes are not only taking up space in your home, but they’re also confusing! Why have so many if you don’t need them? Sometimes not everything is from the same company, so you can’t have one remote for everything, but luckily that’s not your only option.

The Logitech Harmony 650 Universal Remote is fantastic because you can connect up to eight devices. You can say goodbye to that mess of remotes and have everything easily accessible from just one. No more confusing yourself or guests!

The remote is compatible with 225,000+ devices from more than 5,000 brands, which means you’ll almost certainly be able to connect your current devices to the remote, as well as anything you may purchase in the future. It also comes with a bright colored screen that shows your channel favorite icons and commands for incredible easy navigation.

Its biggest feature is the one touch command. Want to watch a DVD? Great, simply press ‘watch a DVD’. Using your remotes has never been so easy. Want to adjust the sound? Great! You can do that too without needing to grab for something separate. This is great when you’re watching a movie because you don’t want to be fumbling around for multiple remotes in the dark.

You can easily set up the remote online using a PC or a Mac, so it’s not specialized to one or the other.

Buttons are also grouped by function so the layout is very intuitive. Not only are you getting rid of multiple remotes, but you’re also getting something that works even better. Your activity buttons are on top for turning on TV, DVD player, music and other things. The color screen has commands, your favorite channels and the ability to listen to music.

You’ll even have an entire section of the remote for DVR. The contoured shape fits perfectly into your hand, unlike some of those boxy remotes that come with sound systems. All buttons are also backlit so you’ll be able to control the remote easily while watching something in the dark.

If this sounds great but you’re looking for something a bit extra, Logitech also offers several higher-end versions of this remote that offer other things like a tablet design, touch screen, rechargeable and customizable screens for personalization.

Let’s talk price. On the Logitech website, the remote is $79.99. Sounds like a pretty good deal for what you’re getting. However, it currently only costs $44 from Amazon, so you’d be better off buying it from there.

The Logitech universal remote is so useful and really makes your home entertainment system so easier to use and really clears up clutter. This double whammy is something you certainly shouldn’t miss out on.
