After successfully introducing the Space Invader watches, Romain Jerome is going to be producing another set of watches with a classic video game theme. This time the watches feature the iconic PAC-MAN game design on their dials and like the Space Invader watches; you can’t actually play the games.
Romain Jerome teamed up with NAMCO BANDAI to create these retro-tastic limited edition timepieces, only 80 will be produced with 4 versions of the design (20 pieces in each design). I’ve seen the PAC-MAN design used on some clocks and many low-end watches but this is the first time it makes an appearance on a high-end luxury watch.
The watches have a 3D dial with the puzzle/labyrinth from the game that’s made with layers of material to give it the look of the background from the game. Each of the four designs features the yellow pixelated PAC-MAN character at the 9 o’clock position. The simplest design features PAC-MAN and four grey ghosts, the next design adds two pairs of red cherries at the 11 and 3 o’clock position, the next design is more colorful and has the ghosts (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde) in the game colors, the last design adds the two pairs of cherries to the colorful ghost design.
The Romain Jerome PAC-MAN watches are based on the RJ Moon Invader watches and come in black PVD coated 46 mm cases with polished highlights. The dial has the classic PAC-MAN logo above the 6 o’clock position, the minute and hour tips and the characters are coated with SuperLuminova. The watches are powered by the Concepto automatic movements.
The PAC-MAN watches will be available at RJ retailers on September 10, 2012 and are quite reasonably priced, at $17,900, compared to some of the other limited edition watches we’ve written about. I’m sure the watches with the most color would be the first to go, that’s the one I’d pick if I had the money and was looking for a fun looking watch.
