Wristy Business – The Ultimate Watch List That Will Blow Your Mind…

Eyjafjallajökullwatch e1282064548177

There’s something about a wrist watch that has the ability to accentuate a guy’s look and feel. Like a fine point of tailoring that expresses the man’s individuality and taste, the watch is that ‘cherry on top’ detailing that can complete an outfit. Blah, blah, blah… here’s an epic list of watches to blow your mind..

Romain Jerome is one of those Swiss watchmakers that probably believes that diamonds are a dime a dozen and wanted use a material that was a little more exclusive.

Remember that Icelandic volcano that was so powerful it halted European air travel to a standstill? Well I guess it seemed worthy enough to someone to make an exclusive watch out of its volcanic ash. The EyjafjallajökullDNA watch is one of those watches that looks like it was forged from the depths of hell and commissioned for Hades himself.

Titanic DNAHow about a watch that is made out of actual steel and coal scavenged from the Titanic shipwreck. The Titanic-DNA by Cabestan is part of the Titanic-DNA collection that is “derived from the extraordinary fusion between authentic steel from the shipwreck, lying 3,840 meters under the sea and steel supplied by the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, where the Titanic was built nearly a century ago.” The one above is just one example of the collection and collaboration with Cabestan with it’s uber-sexy Cabestan Winch Tourbillon Vertical design that can run up to $300,000. If that’s too steep for ya, there’s this one that’s only half the price, the Titanic-DNA Rusted Steel T-oxy III Skeleton Chronograph Tourbillon.

Not out of this world enough? Spacesuit UP! The Moon Dust-DNA Steel Mood Silver is my favourite example of a Moon Dust DNA collection made with authentic dust from the moon.

However, I still can’t decide if it’s more awesome than the Moon Invader watch that is made from steel coalesced by fusion with spare parts from Apollo 11.

Swiss watchmaker Louis Moinet designed the Jurassic Tourbillon, a 12 limited-edition collection containing 130 million year old dinosaur bone fragments from the Diplodocus. But for $300,000, it should’ve been a freaking T-Rex or at very least a Dilophosaurus watch that spits out a blinding poison.

Currently, Cabestan is in the midst of innovating the watchmaking game yet again with its new collaboration with Marc Alfieri. Utilizing silicium crystals, the Sol Invictus will have highly efficient solar cells making it the first perpetual mechanical timepiece using solar energy. Price is about $566,000.

Cabestan Sol Invictus WatchApparently, this next watch made it debut as the ‘Incognito’ when it went up as a mystery auction prize at a charity event. However, it is unknown if the winning bidder, who forked up €400,000,  also got a invitation to a secret steampunk space pirate league with his new DeWitt WX-1 Concept.

dewittWX1Of course, there can be no ultimate list of amazing watches without the mere mention of the Maximilian Büsser & Friends (MB&F) Horological Machine No. 4 Thunderbolt. Check out our detailed post about it here.

Finally, if you ever, ever needed another reason to purchase an Aston Martin DBS, I introduce to you the AMVOX DBS Transponder. Collaborating with Jaeger-LeCoultre, Aston Martin had reserved this watch to all DBS owners.  What’s so special about it you may ask? Well, see that frosted white ring around the watch face? Nothing more than one touch and the watch activates a special circuit that reads pressure on the sapphire crystal thats allows you to lock and unlock the car. Simply genius.

Well thats it. Think another one deserves to be on list?
