How to prepare two excellent classic drinks

Drinking has come to an age were old is gold. The cocktails we’d see our grandparents drink are currently living a new golden era in terms of popularity, and every man should know how to whip them up and impress everybody

The (aptly called) Old-Fashioned has seen a newly born popularity thanks in part to Mad Men. If you want to prepare a very cool looking, sophisticated cocktail, you’ll need three things: bourbon (decent, not the best, but not a cheap one), sugar (syrup or cubes) and bitters (Angostura is a fine example). You should make a fine layer of bitters on the glass, say 4 or 5 dashes. Then, add two teaspoons of sugar syrup or one sugar cube and two or three ounces of bourbon. Don’t forget to put ice! Garnish with a small orange slice and, IF you feel like its too much, you can top it with soda, but I don’t reccomend it.

On the other hand, the Manhattan is a drink which needs a a couple materials more. For example, you’ll need a mixing glass. In the beverage department, you’ll need rye whiskey (strong), bitters and sweet vermouth. You have to mix 2 ounces of the whiskey with 1 ounces of the vermouth and 2 dashes of bitters on the mixer, along with a lot of ice. Shake it until the glass is very cold and serve in a Martini glass. You can garnish it with a Maraschino cherry.
