It has been a few years since there was a mid-size American pick-up available at a dealership; up until recently, if you wanted a mid-size truck, you’d have to get a Toyota or a Nissan. Which is not a bad thing, but having more competition is always a good thing in my book.
Then last year Chevrolet introduced the Colorado mid-size truck along with the GM Canyon, which have been quite popular. Now Chevy has introduced new packages for the Colorado to keep customers interested in these trucks. The two new packages are called Trail Boss and Midnight Edition.
The Colorado Trail Boss, as its name would suggest, is aimed at off-road enthusiasts. It comes with the Z71 off-road suspension package, chunky Goodyear Wrangler DuraTec off-road tires on 17” black wheels, a black roll bar behind the cabin with a pair of LED lights, a spray-on bed liner, and all-season floor mats.
The Colorado Midnight Edition is for the city folks that enjoy the nightlife more than the off-road life. This truck is offered in black exterior paint only, with a blacked out grill, Chevy bow-tie, and 18” wheels. The tires are less aggressive and are better suited to the pavement as opposed to rough terrain.
Both of these packages are available on the Chevrolet Colorado LT models, in either crew cab or extended cab models, with 2WD or 4WD. These packages will be available in the fall, no word on pricing yet.
