Montreal is a booming party city with many diverse neighbourhoods ripe for “cup runneth over” type situations. From historical districts loaded with classy joints, to dirty dives lining the new and up and coming areas of the city, Montreal is the choose your own adventure story of nightlife that you are looking for. With that in mind i decided to get an expert opinion. For that, I turned to JustFly. With their advice I was able to nail down three diverse neighbourhoods worth checking out in Montreal if you are looking to have a raging night out.
Saint-Henri
First up on JustFly’s review is Saint-Henri. This newly revitalized area is the hippest place to be if you find yourself in Southwest Montreal. Featuring some of Montreal’s coolest new bars, Löic comes to mind, and some of the most downtrodden, Saint-Henri can give you a little bit of that urban Montreal zest, while allowing you to not lose touch with that Quebecor nightlife experience. Another great place to check out is Bar Courcelle, a revamped country bar that has traded in some of that sweet southern hospitality for sweet Southern Comfort.
Downtown
I don’t know what you know about the sport of hockey, but Montreal is obsessed with it. For more than 100 years the Canadiens have been the talk of the town. In addition to the fan appreciation, the bars are eternally grateful for their existence. JustFly says that’s why the epicentre of downtown’s bar scene is located near the Bell Centre, the home of Les Habitants. You want dives, there are dives. You want some ritz, get your suit form the cleaners. You want to try your luck with something in-between? Try any spot on Montreal’s Bishop, Mackay, or Crescent and see where the night takes you!
The Plateau
Last stop, The Plateau. Considered ground zero for the hip in Montreal according to JustFly, The Plateau is an area highlighted by streets like Mont Royal, Saint-Denis, and Saint-Laurent. You can’t go wrong with any of these choices but there are simply too many places to get to for the bar hopper in you, and you’ll feel left out if you prefer to camp at a spot for the night. If you are planning a weekend in Montreal and want guaranteed good times, The Plateau is a good home base to see what kind of trouble you can get into.
