Fine Living

If you are a true gun fanatic then you most likely love attention to detail and can appreciate the time and effort it takes to create a beautiful gun which involves fine craftsmanship to get a complete product. If you happen to be one of those people that are very picky about the small details then you will love the work of Alexander Perfiliev of Russia who has been creating miniature gun replicas for over 30 years now.

It’s not until you have a closer look at the work when you realize that Alexander is serious about his creations. For example, the Mosin Rifle (pictured below) is a complicated weapon and it took him one year to get it right. He didn’t have access to fancy equipment or even a power drill. He started off by only using a primitive hand brace back in 1970.

For those of you who are Apple users, there’s a good chance you’ve looked into a case to protect the large, fabulous, and exceptionally vulnerable screens on your technology. If you’re trying to find a simple, modern and extremely attractive alternative to the boring or tacky offerings currently on the market, check out these smart and understated felt cases by Byrd & Belle. Made for a number of different technologies, you’ll be able to find the perfect fit for your device – there are six separate styles in a range of colours. The line is the brainchild of Angie Davis, who creates every item by hand in Minneapolis out of sustainable wool and environmentally friendly dyed leather. If you don’t care about any of that stuff, the fact remains that the combination is thick, soft, reinforced, and most importantly, has killer good looks. Earlier in the year, we showed you guys Skataz which are motorized roller blades that were in the development stage. The last time I checked, it was still a prototype. While we wait on those, there is another cool project in the works by JP Works, a design consultancy firm based in Los Angeles, CA.

The product they are developing is called spnKiX and they are currently collecting funding for the project over at Kick Starter. The technology being incorporated into these “shoes” can be found on laptops, smart phones, and the latest radio controlled cars. SpnKiX are battery powered, motorized skates which can strap right on to your shoes.

My first car was a Mini Cooper S which I sold recently, that car has a special place in my heart and lately I’ve been thinking of buying one of the original “real” Minis.  But I doubt I’ll go through with the purchase, instead I might just pick up one or two of the Zero Basic Mini Cooper USB Flash Drives.  Sure, it’s not the same thing but I do need a USB drive and it’s a lot cheaper than an original Mini, so why not make it a Mini Cooper USB flash drive.

When I first saw the Privacy Pop Bed Tent, the sequence of thoughts that ran through my mind went something like this:
“Wow, does that thing ever look incredibly stupid.”
“You could do terrible, terrible things in there and no one could see. ”
“No ass holes or the sun could ever wake me up!”
“…all of that is actually pretty great.”
So maybe I wouldn’t put it on my bed at home, but it actually looks like it would be the traveller’s (and the pervert’s) best friend.
