qualcomm ces2013 keynote

Generation M – Qualcomm’s Hilariously Terrible CES 2013 Keynote

You may find this hard to believe, but when it comes to describing this years Qualcomm’s CES keynote, I’m at an almost complete loss for words. I’ve been sitting here frantically trying to string together something that does the clip justice, but I’ve realized something… it’s almost impossible. It’s the type of video that’s so bad you have to see it to believe it.

Let me repeat once more, this is going to be painful. If you manage to make it past the 25 second mark, then you’ll be in the big leagues of internet badassery for surviving, mind intact – or not intact, as is more likely the case – the monstrosity that is this keynote.

Top Gear USA – First Trailer

As a huge fan of the infamous “car show” Top Gear, I was relieved to find out that Adam Carolla didn’t make it as a host on the show. The guy’s not funny at all, and probably knows nothing about cars. Having said that…

I think the show has a lot of potential, but I do have some major concerns. Watch the trailer, and then let me explain exactly what

Henry Cavill as Theseus in Immortals

Immortals Trailer – Director Tarsem Singh Returns

YouTube player

Immortals tells the classic story of Greek warrior Theseus’ battle against the mad king Hyperion. Theseus has to summon the Titans to aid him, and, well… at this point you’re probably thinking that this movie sounds a lot like Clash of the Titans, the blockbuster mega-hit that I didn’t bother to go see and probably never will. You see, until now, I had never actually heard of Theseus, or his Titans, and the only Hyperion I knew of was the book of the same title by author Dan Simmons. Who I have heard of, though, is a fellow named Tarsem Sing; he directed The Cell – starring Jennifer Lopez – and I found the visuals in that movie absolutely stunning. Based on what I see in the Immortals trailer, it seems that

Jeremy Renner in Bourne Legacy

The Bourne Legacy – Official Trailer

It’s been years since the last Bourne film came out, and though there were rumblings about a new one, details were scarce. That’s all changed with the release of The Bourne Legacy official trailer. The new Bourne film stars Jeremy Renner, most recently seen in Mission Impossible 4, and you know what? The movie actually looks pretty damn good. Despite the lack of Matt Damon, this actually looks like a Bourne film.

Now, you’ll probably recognize a few faces in the trailer. It looks like Matt Damon is one of the few actors

cat singing game of thrones

A Meow of Thrones – Are you Actually Surprised?

When I was first shown this “song” about 20 minutes ago, two things came to mind. First I was going to say “as much as I rail against everyone posting cat stuff…” and also “does this really surprise you?“. Instead of choosing just one, I’ll use both. I hope you understand.

So yes, this really is a cat meowing the theme for Game of Thrones, and yes, here I am posting it. Just in case you’re wondering, the cat’s name is

Pop Culture by Madeon on Novation Launchpad with man dancing

Pop Culture by Madeon: Killer Live 39 Track Mashup

I heard Pop Culture by Madeon a few months ago and it immediately got in my head with its crunchy synth and infectious dance styling, so when it came up in my playlist today, I decided to check for a video. When I found the official release on YouTube, I was blown away by what I was seeing. I knew it was obviously a mashup, and could pick out bits and pieces of songs I like, but I didn’t realize just how deep this rabbit hole went. The seamless editing blends 39 separate tracks from artists ranging widely from ELO and The Who to Chromeo and Nero.  Watching Madeon’s fingers dancing across his Launchpad and trying to figure out how he’s keeping track of the samples and levels while playing a freestyle organ solo is nothing short of amazing. His mastery of digital dj equipment seemingly knows no bounds. And then, I found out he’s only 17 years old – queue puff of smoke leaking out my ears. Hit the jump and turn it up for a great party track, an unbelievable visual use of musical technology… and bonus utterly ridiculous dance video .
