A Meow of Thrones – Are you Actually Surprised?

When I was first shown this “song” about 20 minutes ago, two things came to mind. First I was going to say “as much as I rail against everyone posting cat stuff…” and also “does this really surprise you?“. Instead of choosing just one, I’ll use both. I hope you understand.

So yes, this really is a cat meowing the theme for Game of Thrones, and yes, here I am posting it. Just in case you’re wondering, the cat’s name is

Before I go any further, I just want to say that Chad made me post this up. Comments and complaints can be forwarded to him right …

Modern Jazz Saxophonist Jafar Idris modeling

Interview: Contemporary Saxophonist Jafar Idris

I enjoy almost all genres of music and I consider myself to be pretty open-minded when it comes to music. I grew up on Rap, Hip Hop, and R&B from the 90’s and 2000’s. Jazz music has never been really my cup of tea but I certainly appreciate it. I’ll listen to it but won’t go out of my way to seek it.

A few months back, I was looking up some throw back songs from Usher on YouTube when I accidentally came across a few versions of Usher’s song ‘Nice and Slow’ done in a “saxophone version”. It kind of caught me off guard to see that and I decided to check the songs out because I always wanted to learn to play the Saxophone.  In my mind, the Saxophone seems like the perfect instrument to sweep a girl off their feet. A few of the versions of that song were pretty bloody good and two artists really stood out. One of those artists is saxophonist, Jafar Idris. After checking out his songs and enjoying much of his work, I decided to contact him and throw some questions his way.

A Night with Chuck Palahniuk – Damned, Candy, Inflatable Brains, and ‘Guts’

IMG 2782

Every time the name Chuck Palahniuk arrives in conversation, I can’t help smiling from ear to ear, eyes glowing with excitement like a sycophantic teenage groupie ranting about their favorite rock star. Most people recognize the author’s name behind the David Fincher masterpiece, Fight Club. Others, well, they are the work of the mischievous few who recommend to their friends to read such titles as, Choke or Snuff. Soon enough, the satirical black humor that enslaves the characters under consumerism, sex addiction, party crashing or even hell, infects readers like a good case of the rabies. And those few, who yearn to read Palahnhiuk’s every word, they are The Cult. So when his latest book, Damned, was announced, I was drooling with anticipation to be able to see him once again on his book tour. But since Vancouver was at the very end of the tour, I’ve been staring at those damn tickets on my desk for months now. Finally, I can say it was well worth the wait.

The Brick Testament – The Bible Explained in Lego

The angels drive out Lucifer with.... assault rifles?

The bible is one of those things that stirs up a lot of mixed feelings amongst our readership; regardless of this, it’s safe to say that no matter what you believe in, there are some pretty damn great stories in the good book. Being able to produce endless amounts of free booze, horrific monsters, cataclysmic disasters- it’s got everything you’d want in a multi-billion dollar summer blockbuster. Rather than arguing over what’s theologically sound, we’d rather just enjoy the hilariously vengeful side of God, as offered in gloriously detailed plastic by The Brick Testament. Check out some of these pretty ridiculous, tongue in cheek illustrations of biblical scenes after the jump.

Felix Baumgartner’s “Stratos Jump” – The 128k Freefall

I say this all the time, and I’ll say it again… we’re living in a supremely interesting time.

As a species, we’re now technologically sophisticated enough to send a person into the stratosphere using a helium balloon, and have him “safely” plummet 128,000ft back to earth at over 833mph? To that I say, sweet zombie Jesus that’s cool. Felix Baumgartner has one serious set of stones on him. One small step for himself (the step isn’t very long), and one giant leap for
