Sweet Tea and Bourbon Slush

If you are a Southerner who likes their sweet tea or enjoy a fine glass of bourbon, this is the perfect recipe to let the day slip away. Not too sweet, this recipe is certainly something to sip on throughout the day and take your mind off of your troubles.

2 cups of water
2 huge-sized black tea bags
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup bourbon

The first step is to make the black tea. Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Turn the heat off and add the tea bags and let them steep for a minimum of thirty minutes. Take out the tea bags and return the water to a hard boil to dissolve the cup of sugar. It should take approximately one minute. Take that mixture, put it into an airtight glass container, and put it in the refrigerator for four or more hours.

When it’s cooled, take the sweetened tea out of the refrigerator and add 1/2 cup bourbon. Once it is mixed, pour it over a full-size ice tray and freeze overnight. The next day, take out the ice cubes and blend them in the blender until they have the consistency of a slush puppy, then pour them into a mason jar and drink up!

The Drunken Barney

This slush is as fun as its name. The perfect drink that looks more like a snow cone, but tastes like a slush puppy, it will entertain guests for sure! The fun part about the Drunken Barney is that it is created with colorful layers. Although it takes a little extra work, the “wow” factor is well worth it.

Green layer

Mix two ounces of coconut rum, one ounce of blue Curacao, and three ounces of orange juice and freeze in a container.

Red layer

Mix two ounces of vodka, one ounce of peach Schnapps, and three ounces of cranberry juice and freeze in a container.

A splash of Blue Curacao

Take the green mixture and put it in the blender, then add it to the bottom of three eight-ounce glasses. Next, mix the red layer and add it on top of the green layer in the three glasses. Splash some blue Curacao over the top of the drink — not just for the look, but also for some additional yummy taste.

Baileys and Kahlua Coffee Granita

What is better than Kahlua Coffee on a cold fall day? Adding Baileys to it! This is the perfect recipe to warm your bones with a coffee slush.

The first step is to make four cups of super-strong coffee and set it aside to cool down. Freeze two cups of half and half cream until solid. Once the half and half is fully frozen, put it in the blender. Hollow out one full vanilla bean and add it to the cream. Next, add four ounces of Bailey’s Irish Cream, four ounces of Kahlua and the cooled coffee to a blender. Set the blender to high and blend completely. After it is all blended together, place the mixture in the freezer again. After about 45 minutes take it out and blend it one final time.

The result is an amazing midday pick-me-up that, can also be a great way to wind down at day’s end.
