When a vehicle’s name includes the word “grand”, you know it’s going to be GRAND. Cars made by Bentley are already pretty grand for us mere mortals but their latest vehicle, the Bentley Grand Convertible, is the grandest of them all.
The Bentley Grand Convertible is based on the Mulsanne Speed sedan and is currently only a concept with no immediate plans for production, but it might see the light of day if there is enough customer interest. It would be in direct competition against the Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé.
The Grand Convertible is powered by the same twin-turbo 6.2 liter V8 engine found in the Mulsanne Speed, producing 530 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque.
The Grand Convertible also shares its styling with the Mulsanne; whether you think that’s a good looking car is a subjective matter. I personally think it’s an ugly car and that ugliness makes it look beautiful to me. It’s beautiful because it’s so ugly.
The entire car is handcrafted from the finest materials, with an uber luxurious interior. Every inch of the interior is covered with either supple leather or burl veneer; the tonneau cover features the biggest single piece of veneer application in any production car.
Will Bentley make the Grand Convertible? My feeling is yes, the platform already exists and they definitely will have customers lining up to buy one of these exclusive convertibles.
