Suzuki may be no more in the US and Canada but other markets are still doing well for the automaker. The company has just announced the new pricing for the all-new Suzuki Vitara set to go on sale in April with a starting price tag of $21,600 for the base Vitara SZ4 featuring a 1.6-liter petrol engine and front-wheel drive. The all-new Vitara is available in SZ4, SZ-T, and SZ5.
The vehicle can be purchased with either a 1.6-liter petrol engine or a 1.6-liter diesel, both of which put out 118 horsepower. The base model, Suzki Vitara SZ4, comes equipped with seven airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, DAB Radio with Bluetooth connectivity, USB, cruise control, air conditioning, projector headlamps, and automatic locks/windows.
The Vitara SZ-T trim features larger 17-inch alloy wheels, navigation system, Smartphone link audio, and a rear privacy glass. The top of the line Vitara SZ5 features LED headlights, 17-inch polished alloy wheels, seats with suede fabric, Adaptive Cruise Control, keyless entry and start button, Radar Brake Support, and a Panoramic sunroof.
Suzuki has also made available two appearance packages depending on the look you want. The first is the Urban package which will include extras such as body side molding, roof spoiler, and chrome-plated fog lamp bezels. The second package is the Rugged look and features skid plates up front and in the rear, body side moldings, fog lamp bezels, and loading edge protection at the rear. Both packages are available for an extra $770.
Only the Vitara SZ5 is offered with the Allgrip AWD system which is a shame as this SUV is now just any other other soccer mom SUV for urban driving. The 1.6-liter petrol engines are only available in a five-speed manual transmission but a six-speed automatic transmission will be available for the top of the line SZ5 this summer. And the 1.6-liter diesel are only available with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The diesel engines return an impressive fuel economy of 4L/100km or 58.8mpg US. Now that’s pretty good for an SUV. I’m guessing the whole rugged look for SUV’s is going out of fashion. This Suzuki Vitara screams “take me to the mall” when it should be intended for trails.
