8 Things to Take Care of This Weekend

We all procrastinate. Procrastinating on our chores or home projects is part of life. We know we need to do that… later. If we can keep putting it off, we usually do.

This weekend, the time has come to finally end that procrastination streak. If there are things around the house or yard we must take care of, appointments to make, or more, then this weekend in the perfect time to finally get them done. Don’t procrastinate anymore. If you need to take care of any of the following items, then this weekend, make sure you tackle them for good!

Schedule a Dental Appointment

If you keep avoiding a visit to the dentist, you’re not alone. No one likes going to the dentist, and those nice postcards they send you in the mail are easy to throw out and ignore. If it’s been more than six months since your last dental appointment, however, you should schedule one for the following few weeks. It’s important to get your teeth cleaned regularly, and have your mouth checked for gum disease or growing cavities. Plus, you’ll get a nice free toothbrush. What do you have to lose?

Meal Plan

Cooling healthy meals can be hard sometimes, especially if you’re too busy to do some recipe hunting. If you want to start taking better care of your family’s health, this could be the perfect weekend to start. If you meal-plan, it’s even easier to cook fast, healthy meals. Plus, proper planning means that you don’t have vegetables growing fur at the back of your fridge. A half an hour of planning this weekend, and you could transform the stress of cooking this week into something fun.

Clean the Nooks and Crannies

You’re probably pretty good about cleaning your floors, dishes, and other immediate needs. Nooks and crannies around the house, however, can get gross if you don’t tackle them at some point. You might want to take this weekend to clean behind the couch, or along the bathroom cracks. If you own any specialized machinery, like a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, you should get a CPAP cleaner to make sure it stays clean and healthy.

Plan a Weekend Trip

Did you know that vacations are good for you? Yes, they are. Now, instead of feeling guilty or selfish for taking a nice trip, you can chalk it up to personal healthcare. A few vacations a year, even short ones, can help make your more productive at work, less stressed, and healthier. You can hunt down experiences in Vicksburg, Mississippi or Chicago, IL for the perfect relaxing weekend. You don’t have to spend much money or go far to enjoy the health benefits of vacations.

Throw Out Clutter

Why does throwing out clutter feel so good? If it’s been too long since you enjoyed the experience of decluttering your house, this weekend might be the perfect time to start. You could have a policy of throwing out five things every weekend (five a day for a while if you’re behind) or you could have a trash bag fest. There’s a great deal of old mail lying around, and you own a lot of things you don’t need. Want to know the secret to a clean house? Have less stuff in it.

Look at New Cars

Your vehicle might not be running the way it used to. If it’s time to start looking for a new car, or a new used car, then you could start your hunt this weekend. If you don’t mind a bit of a gamble, you can look for cars on craigslist. If you live in New Jersey, you can visit a Volkswagen dealership in Morris County, NJ to find your perfect car. After you browse, you should have the car checked out by a local mechanic, to make sure it’s in the condition the seller claims. Buying a car is a big project, and it makes sense if you’ve been procrastinating on it. You’ll feel better, though, once you bring it home!

Clean the Fridge

Everyone’s fridge fills with old condiments, spills, and things forgotten at the back. If there’s one thing we all love to procrastinate on, it’s cleaning the fridge. Fully cleaning the fridge is no small task, and it takes an hour or so to clear everything out, clean, and put the relevant food back. If you keep avoiding cleaning out your fridge, this weekend may be the time to finally do it. Set aside an hour or two on Saturday morning and get it out of the way. You’ll feel good afterwards that you did!

Get Your Mold Removed

If your basement has experienced any recent flooding, if you live in a damp area, or if your attic has suffered from some moisture leaks, then your home could be growing mold. Mold is unhealthy, and it spreads the longer it lives in your house. You should get any mold growing in your home removed by a property damage restoration team. They can help removed the mold from your home, get your house clean, and give you tips on how to keep the mold from coming back. Stay healthy and mold free!

Cleaning, hiring an expert, or making a much-needed purchase are all things you could tackle this weekend. If you continually feel like you’re running around like a chicken with its head cut off, you should take this weekend to plan a trip. If you’re procrastinating because you’re just too burned out, then taking time to relax should be at the top of your list! Do what you need to do for you this weekend and try to tackle as many home projects as you can. Whether it’s getting your mold removed, finally cleaning the gunk and old mayo out of your fridge, or meal planning, you’ll be so happy you did.
