5 Gifts for the Man in Your Life

We’re getting into the holiday season. Hanukkah is here, and Christmas is a few days away. Maybe you’re trying to think about what to get the man in your life.

That man could be your spouse or partner, or maybe you have a beloved brother. Perhaps it’s your father who you think deserves that perfect gift to let him know how you feel.

Picking the right present is not easy, but the suggestions on this list might get you headed in the right direction.

A New Vehicle

You might decide to go big this year. Maybe the man for whom you need a gift has been driving the same vehicle for a long time. Perhaps:

  • It has hundreds of thousands of miles on it
  • It doesn’t have any of the modern safety features

For example, maybe the man in your life is still driving a vehicle that doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity. You don’t want him texting or trying to hold a phone with one hand while he drives. The NHTSA says that distracted driving causes about 6% of all fatal car crashes, and you don’t want that to happen.

If you don’t feel like you can get your man a brand-new vehicle, you can always get him a used or a certified pre-owned one. Just make sure that, if your gift is a surprise, you get a make and model of car that you’re sure he’ll like.

If you’re not certain, you can tell him what you intend to get him, and he can pick out his own trade-in. That spoils the surprise, but you’ll know he’s getting the one he wants.

A New Shaving Kit

You may also decide to get a new shaving kit for the man in your life. He might:

  • Have an old razor
  • Have a beard or mustache that he wants to shave off

Many individuals are working from home this year, and maybe your man is one of them. If he’s no longer driving to the office every morning, perhaps he’s not bothering to shave as often as he once did.

It could just be that he doesn’t like his shaving setup, though. You might get an electric razor for him if he has never tried one before. You can also get elaborate shaving kits that come with some nice sandalwood shaving oil, some aftershave balm, soap, bowl, etc.

It’s a way for your man’s shaving time to feel luxurious.

A New Video Game System

Some people don’t think that video game systems have value. They may feel that if you’re playing video games, you’re not accomplishing anything.

Nothing could be further from the case. It’s true that if you’re playing video games, you’re probably not getting any intellectual stimulation. Sometimes, though, that’s just what a person needs.

This has been a stressful year like no other, and this is a time when a man might need to turn off his mind and not worry about anything for a while. He might enjoy playing a video game like Mario Cart or Animal Crossing that’s not super challenging or violent.

You can get him a Nintendo Switch for less than $200 in most cases if you get it used. That’s not as much as some of the newest and most high-end systems, like the PlayStation 5 that just came out.

The Nintendo Switch is a good option. Your man can take it with him on public transportation since it’s portable, but he can also sync it with your TV at home and play it that way.

New Tools

Maybe your man likes to do some DIY projects around the house. You can always get him some new tools. You can look into brands like Ryobi and Black and Decker that have full tool lines.

You can get him some power tools he can use to build birdhouses, spice racks, or anything else he likes. He can use them for crafts or strictly practical things that need fixing around the house.

If the man in your life is good with his hands, this is a gift that can relax him. You also get the added benefit of his tackling the chore list with his new tools.

New Cooking Implements

Maybe your man loves to cook, or he has taken it up during the pandemic. There are all kinds of top-rated cooking implements that he might like.

You might get him a new instant pot. There are several brands on the market, and he can do all kinds of fun things with them. He can make stews, soups, or chili.

You can get him an air fryer lid and affix it to the top, and then he can air fry things like chicken wings. He can buy a simple bag of frozen fries, put them in the instant pot under the air fryer lid, and they come out restaurant-crispy.

You might get him a nice, sharp knife set. He can use it to try his hand at sushi, cut up fruit for fruit salad, chop up veggies for dips, etc.

Kitchenware is another great gift because your man will likely enjoy it, and then when he cooks, you can reap some of the tasty benefits from that as well.

If you’re not sure what the man in your life would like, you can always ask him. That will definitely take away the surprise element, but you can be sure he’ll get exactly what he wants.

You might also set up a system where he has an Amazon wish list, and he puts some different things on there that he’d like. You can go on the list and get a few modestly-priced items, and again, you can be sure he will like them.

You can set up an Amazon wish list for yourself while you’re at it. If neither of you has very much to spend this year, you can always get each other small items till you’re in better financial shape.
