3 Tips to Making Your First Date Unforgettable

First dates are awkward as hell. Women are nervous to meet strange men from the internet who might murder them. Men are concerned about being taken for a ride by women looking for a free, and usually expensive, dinner. In the age of internet dating, the only thing you can do is do what you can to mitigate the risks and hope for the best. If you really want to make the biggest and best impression on that lovely young lady or handsome fella then do your homework.

Figure out what a good gesture of interest might be. My husband looked me up on facebook (my maiden name was REALLY unique) and asked my “sister” a.k.a. my BFF about my favorite flowers. Spoiler alert: they’re orchids. She didn’t say anything to me about it but she also didn’t know my favorite flower was Orchids so she suggested anything purple. He went to a local shop and picked up a single stem of violets and offered them to me when I walked into the brewery. Yes, our first date was at a brewery. Don’t be scared to FB stalk your first date, just don’t let on that you know things.

The second tip, Ladies and Gentleman pay attention to your date. If their topic is uninteresting make it a point to engage with it and then move onto something more interesting. You’ve got to use this time as a way to weed out those who can’t give you the attention that is necessary.

Third and finally, Do something interesting! Hiking trails are everywhere, arcades are a ton of fun, and every town big or small has an independent coffee shop. Please find an activity that is enjoyable for both of you. Not every date should happen at a bar. Booze is fun and all but, to be honest, there’s no reason not to find a unique experience that both of you can enjoy long after the awkward date has ended.
