Space Saving Kitchen & Dining Tips

One problem you may come across if you live in an apartment is having a small kitchen and dining area. There are so many kitchen appliances out there that would make cooking much easier and a lot more fun but with nowhere to keep them you can’t always get what you want.

Here are some tips on how to use one item for a dual purpose in your kitchen and make space for those appliance you have been eying.

Water Bottle/Utensil Holder
This water bottle purchased from the dollar store makes a very attractive utensil holder.

Whenever I am having a party and need an extra bottle I simply put my utensils in a drawer, screw the top half of the bottle back on and convert it back.

By doing this you no longer need to store the bottle in your already bursting kitchen cupboards and at the same time you have a great looking utensil holder.

Cake stand/Decoration Piece
A cake stand is one of those items that you don’t use every day but should have in your household for those special occasions.

I own a beautiful white porcelain one that definitely does take up a lot of room if I was to store it in my kitchen cupboard.

I save space by using the cake stand as a decoration piece. Whenever I have fresh flowers I use the cake stand to elevate them and give that ‘wow’ factor.

Baby Change Table/Display Table
This is one of my favorite tips because it always gives a ‘wow’ factor when you are entertaining guests. I take the top pad off my daughters change table and move it into the dining/kitchen area. Lay out drinks on one side and the cups on the other side, that way guests help themselves to beverages without having to ask.

Finish it off with a vase and 2 or 3 tulips, it really adds a sexy feel to the home.
