Bubble Soccer Battles — Look Like a Man, Play Like a Kid

Deep inside every man there’s an insatiable desire to run into things.

As kids, little boys are usually little terrors for their unlimited ability to break things and rough house. However, as we grow older that rough-housing turns into sports. Unfortunately for many men, even that’s taken away as they finish their sports careers in high school or college. Thankfully, men can do something about this, ie: get off their asses and play on beer leagues!

Here’s another example: Remember the joy of being a little kid and driving in bumper cars?

Going to the carnival, carefully picking out your tool of destruction, buckling in, and preparing to unleash three mile per hour hell on any poor soul that crossed your path. As with sports, you can still get your fix as an adult. In fact, you can kinda combine the two by playing something like bubble soccer, a bumper based version of regular soccer that gives you free reign on smashing your friends to the turf while scoring goals. What’s not to like?

The brilliant minds over at “BubbleBall” remembered exactly how much fun loosely controlled chaos was in their youth and have come up with a new twist on an old sport that is sure to inspire some bumper nostalgia. Bubble Soccer is exactly what it sounds like: a big, human sized bubble barrier surrounds your top half while your bottom half is left free to get your Ronaldo on.

Imagine this game as being a half-time mascot race with goals and a scoreboard. Although knockdowns are not an official statistic, they most certainly are encouraged. Check out this video of the chaos.

One thing is for sure, Bubble Soccer is as fun as it is quirky. This “sport” is not only a way to take soccer and make it more physical, but also a roundabout way of making football safe. Unleashing a diving tackle or a full speed check allows you to unleash fury on your friends in a fun and safe way, plus the workout of running, jumping, and just balancing in these balls is an incredible workout.

As you’ve undoubtedly picked up from the video, playing soccer while surrounded by a cumbersome inflatable ball is pure mayhem. Everyone runs around with the grace of horse-sized ducks, bouncing, falling, and bumping their way around the pitch. It’s funny, it’s fun, and it’s just all around pretty bad-ass. So instead of embarrassing yourself on the basketball court next weekend yelling when you launch that fade away air ball, strap on your cleats, squeeze inside of a human wrecking ball, and unleash that inner bumper rage for old times’ sake.

You can thank me later.
